Dunfermline Abbey - The Sacramental Window. The inscription on the stained glass window states: ‘He is not here for he is risen.’ Mary Magdalene, 'Apostle of the Apostles,' the first witness of the Risen Christ and the first messenger who announced to the apostles the resurrection of the Lord can be seen praying alongside the other ‘Maries’ at Jesus' tomb. In 'The Gospel of Mary Magdalene', as the apostles despair at the death of Jesus, Mary arose, embraced them all, and said: ‘Do not remain in sorrow and doubt, for his Grace will guide you and comfort you.’ St. Mary Magdalene was officially recognised as the 'Apostle of the Apostles' by the Vatican on the 10th of June 2016. An altar was once dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene at Dunfermline Abbey (1524 - 1525)...
