“A negative mind will never give you a positive life.”

It’s a simple sentence, but there is a lot of truth in it.

Many of us spend our days rushing from one thing to the next, carrying stress, worries, endless to-do lists, and sometimes forgetting to pause. The result? We feel tired, overwhelmed, and disconnected from the things that bring us joy.

That is one of the reasons we love our guided walking breaks at Yarn Market Hotel.

Walking isn’t just about reaching a destination. It’s about slowing down, noticing the landscape around you, breathing fresh air, sharing conversations, and giving your mind the space it often doesn’t get in everyday life.

On Exmoor, surrounded by open moorland, coastal views, ancient woodland and beautiful villages, something shifts. Problems feel a little smaller. Thoughts become clearer. Smiles come more easily.

Movement is not a punishment. Movement is joy.

Whether you’re an experienced walker or simply looking for a positive reset, our guided walking breaks are designed to help you reconnect with nature, with others, and perhaps even with yourself.

Join us and discover what a few days on Exmoor can do for your mind and body.

Some things are worth seeing twice.

Back in May, Sir Nigel Gresley turned heads as it passed through Dunster. People stopped what they were doing, cameras appeared from pockets, and for a few moments everyone watched one of Britain’s most iconic steam locomotives roll by.

The good news? It’s coming back.

On 3rd, 4th and 5th July, Sir Nigel Gresley will return to the West Somerset Railway and will stop at Dunster Station, giving visitors another chance to experience this remarkable piece of railway history.

Why not make a weekend of it?

Stay with us at Yarn Market Hotel, explore the village of Dunster, discover Exmoor, and enjoy the unique atmosphere that only a heritage railway can create. Whether you’re a lifelong railway enthusiast or simply enjoy seeing something special, this is one of those events that makes a visit to Somerset even more memorable.

Will you be there when the legend returns?

Not every hotel stay comes with the chance to see one of Britain’s most iconic steam locomotives pass through the countryside.

This July, the legendary Sir Nigel Gresley returns to the West Somerset Railway on 3rd, 4th and 5th July — and if you’re staying in Dunster, you’re perfectly placed to experience it.

There’s something special about hearing a steam train before you see it. The sound echoing through the landscape, people stopping to watch, cameras appearing from nowhere… it turns an ordinary day into a memory.

Make a few days of it. Stay with us at Yarn Market Hotel, explore Exmoor, wander through Dunster, and catch a glimpse of Sir Nigel Gresley during your visit.

Rooms won’t stay available for long on railway weekends — so if this has been on your list for a while, now’s the time.

You could spend this bank holiday scrolling through other people’s weekends.
Or you could wake up tomorrow in Dunster, pull on your walking boots, and spend the next few days exploring Exmoor properly.

This guided walking break at Yarn Market Hotel starts tomorrow — and right now, the paths, the coast, the hills, the village pubs, and the fresh Exmoor air are all waiting for a few more people to say yes.

The funny thing about breaks like this is that people almost never regret booking them.
They regret not booking them.

Because a few days away walking with good people does something that a normal weekend at home rarely does. Your head clears. You sleep properly. You remember what it feels like not to rush.

And the best part?
You do not need to organise anything.

We guide the walks.
We sort the food.
We provide the base in the middle of beautiful Dunster.

You just arrive.

So if part of you has been thinking:
“I need a break.”
“I need fresh air.”
“I need to get away for a few days.”

This is probably the moment to stop overthinking it.

Some things are worth slowing down for.

At Dunster Castle, a rare Mexican Furcraea is beginning to bloom after six years of careful growing — and this is no ordinary flower. It blooms only once before dying, making it one of those quiet, fleeting moments in nature that you either catch… or miss.

So perhaps this is your sign to treat yourself to a few days in Dunster.

Stay with us at Yarn Market Hotel, wander through the village, visit the castle gardens, and make a small escape out of something truly unusual happening just up the road.

Because sometimes the best reason to go away is not a big event or a long itinerary.

Sometimes it is simply this:a rare flower,a beautiful village, and a few days to breathe.

Book your stay with Yarn Market Hotel and enjoy Dunster at its most quietly remarkable.
