Clan MacLeod of the Isle of Skye has called Dunvegan Castle home for over 800 years, making it the longest continuously inhabited castle in all of Scotland. Their motto, "Hold Fast," wasn't just a battle cry: it was a way of life. Through Viking raids, clan wars, and centuries of political upheaval, the MacLeods held their ground.

Inside Dunvegan's walls lies one of Scotland's most sacred relics, the Fairy Flag. Legend says it was gifted to the clan by a fairy queen, and that when unfurled in battle, it would save the MacLeods from certain defeat. Remarkably, the flag still exists today, and historians believe it may date back to the 4th or 7th century.

Whether you carry the MacLeod name or simply carry Scotland in your heart, this clan's story is one of unshakeable identity and fierce loyalty.

For those who love good food there's an abundance of great places to eat on Skye. A select few featured here, in Vogue magazine no less, but there are many, many more ranging from fine dining to food vans. Just remember that most are only open in the summer season and most, if not all, will need to be booked in advance. Enjoy!
