We have always had an affinity for Scotland and have enjoyed many holidays exploring different areas. We found ourselves being drawn back to the Isle of Skye with its rugged landscape and welcoming inhabitants. In 2017 we decided to put our dream of moving to Skye, and running a Bed and Breakfast, into action. We attended a course on how to run a Bed and Breakfast run by The Bed and Breakfast Acad
emy. This course not only advised on the general day to day running of a Bed and Breakfast, but also the legalities too. We went on a bread making course to perfect the art so we can provide you with home made bread. There were a wide choice of properties available but Millburn Bed and Breakfast had us hooked with its strong presence, welcoming interior and views across to the MacLeods Tables. Our move was also spurred on, when in March 2019, Catriona was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, this increased our desire to have a better quality and pace of life. Millburn Bed and Breakfast was purchased in November 2019 and after necessary building work and some updating we moved in on 30th December, 2019, just in time to celebrate Hogmanay in Portree. Millburn Bed and Breakfast is on the edge of Dunvegan village, and is ideally located to explore what Skye has to offer. We are a short drive or walk from Dunvegan Castle and gardens, the ancestral home of the Chiefs of clan Macleod for 800 years. We are also half an hour drive from the Talisker Distillery and we have many fine artisans in this area too. You can take a walk from the front door, no need to take your car, doing a circular walk around the area. The village has a number of places to eat, in walking distance and others just a short drive away.
