From brilliant sunshine to biblical rain, with a flash of rainbow colour in between 🌦️🌈… October has well and truly arrived! 🍂

01/10/2026

Just like that, September has slipped away, taking the last breaths of summer with it & now October is here, bringing one of our favourite seasons: autumn. 🍂

Before the island transforms into its autumn colours, here’s a little look back at September 💙

Sunshine & Sourdough
A perfect August day on Skye ☀️🍞💛

01/08/2026

As August arrives, it’s a beautiful time to enjoy the changing light on Skye. The days are still long, but sunrise comes a little later, while the evenings fade just a touch sooner, bringing a subtle shift in the rhythm of the days.

The ever-changing light creates new moods and atmosphere, ensuring no two moments on Skye are ever quite the same.

A wonderful few days on Skye—warm, sunny and with hardly a breath of wind. The breeze has picked back up today, but we’re loving every summery moment, especially evenings that end with sunsets like this 🌅

A less familiar side of Skye! ✨

Endless opportunities to get off the beaten track & explore ⛰️ 🌊 🌿

The heather is beginning to bloom in vivid purple hues & after a few rainy days the island is looking greener than ever, with every hillside bursting with life & colour 🌿

And as for today’s visitors..our magnificent stags aren’t phased by the rain. Whatever the weather, they’re just enjoying life on Skye 🦌

Eight deer, such a majestic sight 🦌🌿 We’re used to our regular visitors making an appearance, but seeing a whole group come down from the hill is something very special. A reminder to pause and appreciate the wild moments right on our doorstep ✨

The beautiful sailing yacht Ningaloo anchored just off the coast below Hillstone Lodge ⛵

Sadly, its billionaire owners are being forced to put up with the hardship of staying on board, as we’re completely full! We are truly sorry not to be able to accommodate them on this occasion & wish them well enduring this difficult time 😉

They may not be able to stay with us but you can! Summer dates are still available through our website, book now!

A few wild days on Skye with conditions changing by the minute… but that unpredictability has rewarded us with dramatic skies and the most beautiful, ever-changing light ✨
