A rare opportunity to go out to lunch. We are at the Three Chimneys @ Talisker Distillery. Highly recommend but it is ESSENTIAL to book well in advance. It’s a little more casual dining compared to Three Chimneys in Colbost but the food is equally good. Both restaurants have to be booked well in advance.

When guests book with us we send out an email with local information. For instance if you need a taxi whilst you are staying with us book well in advance as it’s a one man one car operation, no taxi ranks here! We also strongly advise that you book restaurants ahead of arrival, even if it’s only for the first night. Restaurants in the village book up well in advance. It wouldn’t be the first time guests didn’t take the advice and they had to get snacks from the village shops for dinner because the restaurants didn’t have availability. We are very lucky in Dunvegan to have excellent places to eat.

The Old School is the most popular, open daily except Thursday. Booking essential.

Blas-Skye is next door, open Wednesday to Sunday.

Isle of Spice is a recently opened Indian restaurant/take away, again popular. Open daily. Book ahead to eat in.

The Misty, pizza, burgers, fish and chips, ice cream. Open daily.

Atholl House, open for meals Monday to Friday, booking essential.

The Dunvegan, open Tuesday to Saturday, booking essential.

Further afield you’ll find The Stein, Loch Bay, both in Waternish. Booking essential for both, especially Loch Bay as it is a Michelin Starred restaurant and books up months in advance.

Approximately 8 miles away is Edinbane Inn and Edinbane Lodge. Edinbane Inn is more pub food type of place. Booking essential.

Edinbane Lodge is a taster menu and is Michelin mentioned and has numerous awards and rosettes. Open Monday to Friday, booking essential, books up months in advance.

In Colbost which is approx 6 miles away is The Three Chimneys and booking is essential, gets booked up months in advance. There is also a Three Chimneys at Talisker where you can get a wonderful lunch but must be booked well in advance.

Check out individual website for opening times, sample menus and prices. We’ve eaten at all these places and we can recommend them all.

Today we’ll go through what we provide in the bedrooms and bathrooms.
So, we’ll do the bedrooms first. Yes, we provide a top sheet. So many guests thank us for providing the top sheet, not many do apparently, but we always have. Also in the bedroom is a welcome tray with coffee, milk, a selection box of Twinings Teas and home made empire biscuits. We also have for guests enjoyment Scottish Tablet which is made by the Isle of Skye fudge company. Long shoe horn is hanging near the wardrobe because I know what a problem it can be sometimes to get hiking boots on. There is also a dedicated black tray for putting muddy boots or shoes on along with a yellow cloth to wipe any footwear or drink spillages in the room. Essentials like tissues, tv and folding table also in the bedroom.
Now the bathroom, yay!!! we provide face washers/face cloths/flannels, whatever it is you call them we provide them. We also have a black face cloth for the removal of make-up. Heated illuminated mirror, switch it on before a shower and it doesn’t steam up. Smidge, midge repellent, it’ll be your best friend some days and that is also in the bathroom. Of course we provide the essentials of shampoo, shower gel, handwash and hand/body lotion.
Tomorrow I’ll do a summary of the posts I’ve done over the last few days.

Following on from yesterday’s post I’ll explain about breakfast. Once you’ve checked in and we’ve explained about the coffee machine and home baking we’ll show you where and when breakfast is served.
Breakfast is served between 7:45-9am. If you need an earlier breakfast then just let us know and it is not a problem at all. Think our earliest breakfast has been 5am, so it really isn’t a problem. We DO NOT ask for breakfast to be ordered the night before. We don’t like doing that when we go away so don’t expect our guests to do it. We have a lighter breakfast menu as well as full Scottish, wee Scottish and vegetarian options. The lighter menu, especially the home made scotch pancakes are popular. However, as long as it’s on the menu you can have it in any combination. We serve toast and tea/coffee when you are seated whilst you look at the menu. We cook to order, so it’s not fast food but it’s freshly cooked.
In the next post tomorrow I’ll show you what we provide in the bedroom and bathroom.

We opened our diary last week for 2027 and the bookings are steadily coming in. So I thought I’d do a little insight into who we are and what we do.
When you book with us we appreciate every booking we get. We will send out a confirmation email giving lots of information. We’ll advise that you book restaurants in advance for dinner, if you need a taxi, again, book in advance.
Once you arrive one of us will greet you in reception, we don’t have self check in with keysafes.
We will explain how to work the bean to cup coffee machine and how to make a cup of tea. These are available 24hrs along with fresh milk and home baking.
We will also explain about breakfast times but I will do a separate post about our delicious breakfasts later in the week.

Beautiful start to the day in Dunvegan but it’s chilly. It probably got down to 1-2°c overnight.
