A mid-19th century stone farmhouse beneath MacLeod's Tables — with Cuillin views and real island solitude.

Three miles from Dunvegan but genuinely remote in feel, Osdale Farmhouse sits alone in the dramatic landscape of the Duirinish peninsula with MacLeod's Tables as its backdrop and Loch Dunvegan and the Cuillin Ridge stretching out beyond.

Character at every turn — window seats, wood burner, underfloor heating, and interiors chosen with real care. The kind of place that feels like a proper home rather than a rental.

The Three Chimneys, Neist Point, Coral Beach, and Dunvegan Castle are all nearby. Sea eagles, otters, seals, and deer are closer still. There's a dedicated boot room for muddy boots and muddy paws, and up to three dogs are very welcome. The owners also have Osdale Byre next door — book both and you've got a private Highland estate for eight.

I promise you we’re still here - and the 2026 season is now in full swing.

Osdale is as peaceful as it’s always been. Just the occasional lamb calling for its mother, a skylark far above and the breeze whispering through the long grass.

The views still compel you to slow down and take it all in, no matter how many times you’ve seen them before. And the cottages will always be a sanctuary for those seeking somewhere special to call home for a little while.

My spot - what’s yours?

For the first time since I arrived on Skye five days ago I have managed to do my favourite thing and that’s just sit by the window and look at the view.

Christmas has been great fun but it’s busy, drawing me away from my favourite spot. I’ve been hoping I can sn**ch five minutes by the window but it’s only now as Christmas passes that I finally get the chance to sit and do nothing and how lovely it feels.

It’s still, there’s very little wind and it’s so quiet. The sun is climbing in the sky and casts a golden hue over the surrounding moorland. The sheep - our constant companions - roam the moorland seeking out the favoured grass while the birds are busy scouting around for their breakfast.

The seat by the window - my little bit of heaven on Skye. What’s yours?

A True Gem

‘This is one of those reviews you don't want to write, in case everyone else finds out what a true gem Osdale Cottages are.

Both us and the dogs had the most wonderful stay at the Osdale Byre. It's so thoughtfully and beautifully set up.

There were so many lovely, and really luxurious touches, from the very generous welcome hamper to the beautiful soft furnishings to the amazingly well provisioned kitchen.

And did I mention the inspiring views across the Loch? We didn't want for anything. We are hoping so much to return next year’

Best things about Osdale?

I am back in Scotland next week and can’t wait to get back to Osdale. There are many things I love about it but these are at the top of the list:

- the views for miles and miles are mesmerising. You could spend hours gazing out the window
- cottages that are warm, inviting and far from a standard holiday cottage that give you a big hug
- dogs can enjoy their holiday here as much as us humans do, with big grounds to discover, walks from the door and all their needs considered

So if you are seeking great Skye views, peace and seclusion with all the home comforts with or without a dog you’ve just found it!

The key ingredient (Happy Birthday Lu)

I am very proud of what we have achieved at Osdale over the last 5 years and much of that is down to the hard work of Lucy.

She has overseen all the improvements we have made - inside and out, ensures that both cottages are presented at their very best each week and is on hand should you have a problem during your time here.

Osdale wouldn’t be Osdale without her - Happy Birthday Lu!
