What an amazing weekend. The weather was spot on, and the atmosphere across the woods was even better.

It was brilliant to see some regulars back in the trees, and I loved catching up with a couple of pals on Friday night. Saturday’s communal fire was a real highlight, there’s nothing quite like a bit of banter and watching the embers to end the day.

🌲 From Near and Far

I’m blown away by how far people travelled to join us. We had plenty of new faces coming from Stockton and even Lincolnshire! It’s a privilege that you chose my little slice of North east woodland for your offgrid getaway.

🦌 Nature’s Display

The wildlife was out in full force this weekend:

Deer: Multiple sightings, including one bold individual right in the car park!

Owls: Hearing them calling through the night was pure bliss.

Kestrels: Watching them hunting in plain sight was something else.

📸 Share Your Memories

I’ll be honest, I was so busy enjoying the weekend that I barely took any photos! If you snapped any shots of the site, the wildlife, or your setup, please drop them in the comments or PM them over. I’d love to see the weekend from your perspective.

A massive thanks to everyone who came down. I really appreciate the respect shown to the woodland and your fellow campers.
Keep an eye out! As next month’s dates are dropping soon!

🌲 Escape to the Woods this Weekend!

The weather is looking spot on, and I still have a few spaces available at my woodland site in County Durham.
If you’re looking to ditch the noise and get back into the trees, now is the time to grab your spot.

I can accommodate:

• Hammocks & Bivis

• Small Tents

• Overlanders & Roof-top Tents

• Camper Vans

A Few Reminders for Your Visit:

• Keep it Compact I’m set up for wilder experiences. Please, no large tents or motorhomes.

• Off-Grid Living Remember, I am fully off-grid. There is no water on site, so please bring plenty for both drinking and washing.

• Fire Safety Safety is paramount. If you’re having a fire, you must have spare water strictly designated for the fire.

• Tick Awareness It’s that time of year! Wear appropriate clothing and make sure to do your checks after a day in the woods.

• Leave No Trace Pack it in, pack it out. Let’s keep the woodland pristine.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the folks who have already booked up. See you in the trees!

📩 Bookings via my website, email or drop the page a message.

What a brilliant few days at the woods! It was fantastic to catch up with some familiar regulars and had a few new faces joining us for the first time. Even someone camping out for the great Tommy sleep out!

We certainly had the full experience with the weather. We were treated to some truly stunning sunsets and glorious sunshine, only to be hit with a blast of April hailstone shortly after, that’s wild camping for you!

Thank you to everyone who made it such a great atmosphere.

The dates for April will be going live on the site very soon, so please keep a close eye on the page to grab a spot.
See you back on site soon!

A quick update from the woods 🌲

I’ve been out in the woods a lot recently getting things ready for the weekend, but we haven’t made the progress I’d hoped for.
Between a manic schedule and needing to take some time to rest and manage some pain levels, the site is still very much a work in progress.

The good news is that I am still opening next weekend (March 27th–29th)!

What you need to know:
🚙 Access: I’m limiting vehicle access into the woodland to just a few 4x4s. This will effectively be a trial to see how the track holds out, so please be cautious with your tyre placement so we don't create more tracks to fix.

🎒 Walking In: All other campers, please park at the entrance. The track maintenance is ongoing, so watch your footing as you walk your gear in.

🪵 Activities: There are plenty of materials around for any budding bushcrafters to practice their skills. Even just get your camp set up and chill out for a couple of nights enjoying the sights and sounds of nature.

The weather isn't looking quite as bright as it was, but it looks like it's going to stay dry, at least (fingers crossed!). See you in the woods soon.
Please let me know in the comments if you'd like to camp out.

I’m sorry to say I’ve have to cancel this weekend’s camping. The ground is still far too waterlogged and boggy to open safely and without making it worse.

I’ve been out all day today putting more stone down to restore the tracks and working hard on the drainage. We have been doing everything we can to get the site ready, but we just need a bit of dry weather now!

Keep an eye out for the next dates. Thanks for sticking with me while I get the woods back in shape.

Massive apologies.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
Hopefully see you on the next one.

Nothing beats a quiet morning in the woods. I sat with a brew and watched the sun come up before getting cracking with the day's graft.

I managed to take about 20 willow cuttings and got them straight into the ground. I’ve also taken 10 home with me to start them off in pots; I'll bring those back to the site once they’ve got a bit more life in them to help the woodland keep growing.

The rest of the morning was spent shifting a few loads of rubble into the worst parts of the track. I’m doing my best to get the main route a lot more sustainable by bringing the very old, original tracks back to life. It’s heavy work, but it’s the best way to keep the woodland accessible while keeping it wild.

It's hard work, but the woods are looking better for it every day. I'd love for you to see the progress yourself, so if you fancy a night under the stars, come along to the Winter Overlanding and Wildcamping Weekend on the 30th of January. You can find all the details and book your spot over in the Events section.

❄️ WINTER CAMPING ALERT: The Response Has Been Incredible! ❄️

I put the feelers out this morning, and the response for our Winter Overlanding & Wildcamping Weekend has been absolutely amazing! It seems I’m not the only one who fancies a frosty night under the stars.

Because so many of you are keen, I'm officially opened the woodland for the weekend of January 30th.

🚜 What to Expect:
The Ultimate Winter Reset: We’re talking crisp air, hot tea, and hopefully a dusting of snow on the ground.

Overlander Friendly: The tracks are prime for 4x4s and overlanding rigs. Bringing a 2WD? No problem—park up at the entrance and enjoy the short walk-in.

Starry Nights: Fingers crossed for clear skies and epic stargazing by the fire.

The Real Deal: This is proper winter wildcamping. If you’ve got the gear and the spirit, there’s no better way to start 2026.

📋 The Essentials:
Pricing: £10 per adult / £5 per child.

Fires: Welcome and encouraged (off-the-ground only). Bring your own logs; kindling is free to forage!

Facilities: On-site compost loo and dog-friendly (on leads).

⚠️ HOW TO SECURE YOUR SPOT
Space is limited to keep that quiet, "wild" feel we all love.

1. Click "GOING" on the official event page. 2. Drop me a message ASAP if you haven't already to confirm your spot.

❄️Winter Overlanding & Wildcamping: Jan 30th Weekend

I’ve been out today scouting the tracks. With the frost on the ground and a hot tea in hand, it’s feeling like a proper wilderness out here

I’m looking at opening the gates for the weekend of January 30th, and I wanted to see who’s keen to join?

The Details:

Know Your Gear: I’ll be honest, winter camping isn't for everyone. It can get a bit "fresh" out here! But if you have the right gear and a bit of experience, it’s a fantastic, peaceful experience that you just don't get in the summer.

Vehicles: The tracks are best suited for 4x4s and overlanders. If you’re in a 2WD, you’re more than welcome, but you’ll need to park at the entrance and walk your gear in.

Fires: Fires are allowed and encouraged to keep the chill off, but they must be off the ground (fire pits only, please).

The Vibe: A chilled winter camp. Hopefully, we’ll have some snow still on the ground and clear skies for some top-tier stargazing.

If you fancy a weekend of fire, stars, bird song and a bit of a winter challenge to kick off the year, drop a comment below or send me a message.
