🌸 Bluebell season on the Etherley Incline! 🌸

Stunning display of bluebells spotted along the Etherley Incline this week — nature putting on a beautiful show! This historic walking route, part of the original Stockton & Darlington Railway from 1825, is looking absolutely gorgeous right now.

If you're visiting Bishop Auckland and fancy a peaceful walk surrounded by carpets of purple-blue flowers, this is the perfect time to explore this heritage trail. The recently resurfaced path makes for easy walking (or cycling) while you soak up both the history and natural beauty of County Durham.

🌸 Busy Times at Gardenside Lodge! 🌸
We've been working our socks off getting the garden looking its absolute best – and it's really paying off! The shrubs are blooming, and the birds are singing, we're so proud of how it's all looking.
Even better, we've had some truly wonderful guests staying with us lately. There's nothing quite like seeing people relax and enjoy our little corner of County Durham. Every lovely review and happy face makes all the hard work worthwhile!

🐾 Poor Doc's Pamper Sessions! 🐾
Our lovely dog Doc has been having a bit of trouble with his feet lately, so he's been enjoying (well, tolerating!) regular medicated showers and foot soaks.
He's being very brave about it all, though we're not sure he appreciates the full spa treatment quite as much as we'd hoped! 😄
Between Doc's pedicures, garden work, birthdays, and welcoming guests, it's been all go around here. Never a dull moment at Gardenside Lodge!
Sending love to all the poorly pups out there – hope they're on the mend soon. 🐕💚

LAYLA'S BIRTHDAY
🎂 Birthday Treats at The Lord Crewe Arms! 🎂
Our Layla celebrated her birthday in style last week with a gorgeous meal at The Lord Crewe Arms in beautiful Blanchland.
If you've never been, we can't recommend it enough. A stunning village, delicious food, and the perfect spot for a special occasion. Layla and Steve certainly enjoyed themselves!
Have you visited Blanchland? It's one of Layla and Steve's favourite nearby dog walking spots and well worth the trip if you're staying with us. 💚

🎉 Big Birthday Celebrations! 🎉
We had a wonderful time celebrating Kenny's 70th birthday just over a week ago, with friends and workmates. It's been quite a milestone, and we feel very lucky to have such lovely people in our lives to share it with.
Seventy years young and still keeping Gardenside Lodge running like clockwork (well, most of the time! 😄).
Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a special day. Here's to the next chapter! 🥳

What’s on nearby
Here at Gardenside Lodge, We are in a great spot for little adventures close to “home”.

In Bishop Auckland itself you have Auckland Castle, the Deer Park, the Faith Museum and Spanish Gallery, plus cafes and independent shops clustered around the Market Place. You can also wander along the riverside and old railway paths for easy, traffic‑free walks without going far at all.

Within about 5 miles you have Hamsterley Forest for woodland trails and fresh air, and Locomotion in Shildon if you fancy a free day out with railway history. It all makes a nice mix of gentle exploring and quiet time back at the lodge.
