Do you believe in love at first sight?

10 years ago, good friends invited us to stay with them in their holiday home in Looe.

We'd never been before and weren't expecting much as it was the end of October.

We parked at the Millpool and struggled over the bridge with our luggage (far too much for a couple of days, of course, and most of it mine 🀣).

We looked across the bridge towards East Looe.

The sun was shining 🌟.

The boats were all in the river πŸ›₯️.

It was high tide and the sun just shimmered on the river 🌊.

It was love at first sight 😍.

Like almost everyone else who visits Looe, we hovered outside the estate agents' windows - looking in the windows, doing mental maths and joining the collective fantasy of buying a place in Looe πŸ˜‚.

It was the start of our dream πŸ™.

Over the next 9 years we regularly returned to Looe on holiday with family and friends. The dream didn't fade; it became bigger and stronger with every visit.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a little holiday cottage business in Looe and bring our family and friends down...?

A year ago we finally managed to make the dream come true and bought Quayside Cottage Looe.

The journey turned out to be very much worth the candle.

And it was indeed such stuff as dreams are made of (I taught English literature for years - sorry, couldn't resist it πŸ“š).

We're Catherine and Julian and this is a photo of us playing on the beach ⛱️ in Looe with our granddaughters last week during one of our frequent visits.

We love running the cottage and hosting such lovely guests who seem to love Looe as much as we do 😊.

Gorgeous day for sitting on the balcony at Quayside Cottage Looe and sipping a cup of tea β˜•πŸ«– in the sunshine 🌞 enjoying the views of the harbour and West Looe.
