A glimpse into the Langham's past... ✨
This AI-colourised photograph shows the Langham Hotel as it appeared in 1922, during an exciting period of growth and renewal.
Like many coastal hotels, the Langham faced challenges during the First World War and was closed to guests for part of the conflict, instead being let as private apartments. However, following the Armistice, the hotel quickly began to flourish once again.
As demand grew, the neighbouring property was purchased, allowing the Langham to expand and occupy both 44 and 45 Royal Parade – helping to shape the hotel we know today. A very jolly postcard of 1922, entitled Happy Days at Langham shows nearly fifty people, staff and guests, enjoying the August sunshine.
Over a century later, we're proud to continue welcoming guests to this remarkable seafront building, where every corner has a story to tell.
