The Butterfly Room was created as a quiet tribute to those we’ve loved and lost. To us, the butterfly represents resilience—a reminder of how even through heavy change and grief, something soft, gentle, and meaningful can slowly emerge.

This room directly supports The Butterfly Fund, helping us offer small acts of kindness to people navigating deep loss. We wanted to build a space that feels like a warm, quiet comfort—somewhere calm and hopeful to just rest, reflect, and be. 💙🌱

Every corner of this house has a story, but some of our favourites are the ones painted directly onto the walls. 🎨✨

Through our Creative Residency program, we welcome artists to stay with us, slow down, and leave a piece of their imagination behind. Watching this dapper little fox come to life layer by layer down the hallway was such a joy—cardboard palette on the floor, brushes everywhere, and pure focus.

It’s projects like these that keep The Sheldon feeling warm, eclectic, and genuinely alive.

Red is the color of remembrance, but it’s also the color of love and compassion. 🌹

When we created the Red Room, we wanted to build a space dedicated to honoring memory, peacebuilders, and those who put themselves on the front lines to care for others.

From the poppies and hand-painted details on the walls to the Helen Keller quote quietly watching over the room, every corner is meant to give you a gentle, thoughtful place to rest, reflect, and hold onto hope for a more compassionate world. 🕊️✨

Welcome to the “Gorilla Garden” at The Sheldon, where Steve has turned a bit of parking lot space into a thriving green oasis! 🌿 If you can’t find Steve, he’s usually out here carefully inspecting the leaves, admiring the pollinators, and showing off Swiss chard that could double as an umbrella.

Here’s a quick tour of what’s growing in our beds:

Nasturtiums: Beautiful, edible flowers that taste great and double as a trap crop to keep pests away from other plants. 🏵️

Dill & Fennel: Delicious herbs that double as pollinator magnets once they flower. 🐝

Tree Kale & Swiss Chard: Massive, colorful, and harvestable all season long—we’ve even started sharing extra kale with the neighbors! 🥬

Dahlias: The bright, colorful stars of the front border garden that keep blooming right up until the first frost. 🌺

For Steve, gardening is all about experimenting and getting some seeds in the ground and seeing what pops up! 🌱✨

Today’s star: a fluffy 3-egg omelette with melted cheese, mushroom, fresh tomato and a sprinkle of chives.
