This week our students have been out and about learning new skills in the community!
We’ve been to pick up raffle prizes, completed the banking and shopped for the summer fayre too.
All of these tasks not only help our students to improve their social and communication skills, it helps with their independent living skills as well.

Both staff and students are really enjoying this new project within our Charity.

Also a big thank you to Tesco in Hampden Park for the raffle prize!

Chalk Farm Learning Disabilities centre isn’t just about work experience, it’s about life skills too.

Last week we started something new, a chance for some of our students to try new tasks out in the community.

Amy loved taking a trip to the laundrette! She sorted the laundry, read and understood the instructions, counted the money, timed the cycles and folded the laundry. All skills that Amy can use in everyday life.

Obviously a coffee at the cafe while they waited was needed too! But again, a life skill that others may take for granted. Reading the menu, choosing what you’d like, counting money/ paying and social interactions too.

We can’t wait to try more of these activities with our students.
This week another student is helping out with the banking!

The advert for our summer fayre will be in the comments.

Thank you!
