Our beautiful lake is a safe haven for wildlife

We have damsel flies on the iris

The Moorhens have weaved their nest into the Willow tree branches once more. We look forward to seeing how many youngsters they hatch this year.

The ducks have had a second set of 8 ducklings 🐥

Our guests in the Lakehouse this weekend were lucky enough to spot the otters playing too 🦦

If you are super quiet the muntjac may show you her baby 🦌

The bats put on a superb evening display and the swallows dip in and out of the lake whilst you prepare your tea…..

As you settle down for the night the owls will gently sing you a lullaby to drift off to sleep 💤

Our shepherd still has good availability this summer. Although it’s our budget friendly cabin it’s still very comfortable and cozy and has all you need for a few nights away from it all…..

Busy busy busy 🐝 here this week!!!

The weather is looking amazing for our guests this May half term 🌞

It is hard work getting everything ready for you all but so rewarding when we see children out in nature having fun!

This weekend we welcome 3 families in the treehouse, lakehouse & shepherd hut

We can’t wait to welcome you all.

🐝 World Bee Day 🐝

Here at Caspian Wood we love to celebrate the bees as they are crucial for pollination

One of the main food sources for them is the Dandelion…..

So if you see them on the driveway and it looks like we should sack the groundsman we have deliberately left them for the bees 🐝

We have woodland and carpenter bees here on site. You will be pleased to know they do not sting. In fact they do not even acknowledge your presence. But we do ask that you leave them in peace to go about their business. After all we are visitors in their habitat and we honour and respect that privilege.

So thinking of your stay in the glamping did you know that every part of the dandelion is edible???

The leaves can be used in your salad 🥗

The roots in one of my favourite drinks- Dandelion & Burdock.

The best bit though is the flowers 🌼
You can make dandelion fritters and cook them on the firepit!

Very tasty and sweet!
Who fancies giving it a go???

Or perhaps you fancy some dandelion honey?🍯

As long as you only pick what you need and leave plenty for the bees too

Maybe you can go foraging this half term and see what you can create from natures goodies
