We created Forty Elephants Theatre Company after struggling to find pieces of published theatre that suited our interests and needs. As a group of five young actresses we found that many female roles lacked depth, variety or excitement, often being one dimensional or stereotypical supporting characters. From creating this company, our hope is to create and showcase tenacious women in gritty storyl

ines. Our company name stems from the Forty Elephants Girl Gang who ruthlessly ran the criminal underworld of Victorian London. The independence and strength of these women inspired our theatre company to make a place for ourselves in this industry.
