You saw my face for the first time in a while yesterday as we have been so busy in August.

It got me thinking, how busy? So I pulled out the laptop and pulled the stats from a crazy month to show you. It even surprised us especially the amount of laundry.

As some of you know me and Anthony do all the work in the b&b and don’t have staff, so we now understand why we are so tired!

We wouldn’t change it (some days we might say we would) and we are very grateful to our guests who choose to stay with us.

We have the same level of occupancy in September but people are stays are shorter on average, so by the end of the month we will have been busier as more check outs and check in’s.

How can you tell if your guests have enjoyed the Fringe during their stay with us?

This is how… I came in to clean the aisle of Uist and this was just a handful of flyers and brochures that they had. I know they went to at least three other shows as well chatted about them over breakfast.

The Fringe Festival is amazing and there is SO much to see and definitely something for everyone.

This is the after without seeing the before which is exactly what guests see.

Behind the scenes we are stripping beds, dusting furniture, cleaning bathrooms, hoovering floors and restocking tea caddies. Our guests walk in to an immaculately clean room without seeing the work that we put in everyday to maintain the property.

It’s like I have said before it’s almost magic to our guests as you very rarely see the before, just TA-DA a beautiful clean room. Today was a busier day with three check outs so lots of cleaning to do.

Now that it’s complete and today’s guests have checked in we are heading out shortly to see a comedian at the Fringe festival.

We had a fabulous lunch experience today at the nearby

The hotel is a mere 0.7 miles from us and we would wholeheartedly recommend it to any of our guests as a place to dine.

Rhubarb is set in an exquisite and sumptuously decorated dining room and the Sunday lunch we had was utterly delicious.

One of the many highlights was the dark chocolate covered honeycomb, made with the hotels own honeycomb.

For any of our future guests wanting to treat themselves to a fabulous dining experience go ahead and book a table at Rhubarb.

We are actually heading back with a friend who is visiting us next month and after today we cannot wait.

There really are lovely people here on Instagram.

A shout out to Stuart & Jasmine at for recommending us to one of their guests. As small businesses it’s wonderful that we use platforms such as Instagram to connect and support each other.

World of mouth is such a powerful marketing tool and while I haven’t met Stuart & Jasmine we often message each other on Instagram, sharing stories and the like.

This little message this morning really boosted us and we wanted to say thanks so much, we will definitely do the same when guest tell us their heading to North Wales.

We had the pleasure of attending the final rehearsal of The Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle last night.

The event is in its 76th year and is a celebration of all things military bands and marching. Our highlights included the RAF band, the U.S. armed forces and the Qatari police forces.

If you are staging with us this month we thoroughly recommend the Tattoo, tickets are already limited so get booking quickly.

We are always looking for ways to improve our service here at Scot Townhouse and to also make sure our pricing is in line with the market.

The easiest way for me to do that is to use booking.com and today I searched on properties that have great review scores. Ours is currently 9.6 out of 10 which we are absolutely delighted about and are so thankful to all of our guests for giving us that score.

However we don’t rest on our laurels so I searched other properties with a score of 9.6 or above to see what guests say about them. That way we can see if there is anything else we can do or offer to enhance your stay.

We want guests to know we are always wanting to keep your satisfaction a 10 or a 5* and will continue to add, enhance and even improve on what we offer.

After seeing how many bookings we received yesterday I decided to see how busy we have been so far this year.

Since January up until today we have had 1390 people stay with us, 1297 adults and 93 children, WOW! That is a lot of cleaning, laundry, food and breakfast chats.

Our most booked room is Isle of Fidra and with what is pre booked for the remainder of the year we will have 2244 people stay in our house. I actually find it slightly mind blowing to be fair, that is a LOT of people.

Thank you to all of our guests who have stayed with us and who are going to stay with us, we are so grateful for your support of our small business.

Another family staying with us and another name given to one of our felt animals.

Our good friend sent us this delightful mouse the other day as a surprise and he didn’t have a name. So the little boy who is staying with us at the minute gave him a name for us.

I would like to introduce you to Mattheas the mouse 🐭

Cleaning never stops in a b&b.

Today it’s time to give the dining room carpet its bi-annual shampoo. We have had over a 1000 people stay with us so far this year and they all walk into the dining room, so the carpet takes a beating. 😊

After this I need to go upstairs and clean the rooms our Dutch family checked out of, all in all a busy day.
