On Saturday 14th December Bro Stuart Richardson, RWM of Lodge Roman Eagle CLX and accompanied by Bro Ross Munro, presented a cheque for Β£350 to Ena Gaffney of Drum RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) in Edinburgh (https://www.drumrda.org.uk/).

The money was kindly donated by the Lodge and was the amount raised from the raffle at their recent Installation ceremony in September and in support of local charitable organisations.

On the morning of Saturday 28th June Brethren from Lodge Edinburgh Rifles (The Royal Scots) No. 405 along with partners and friends from various lodges, including our own RWM Bro Stuart Richardson, attended a memorial service at St Giles Cathedral.

The service was held in memory of the soldiers from the 4th and 5th Battalions of The Royal Scots who made the ultimate sacrifice in Gallipoli in 1915.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.

On the evening of Tuesday 29th April RWM Bro Stuart Richardson and Bro Jeff White PM met Cathy Malman, her husband and daughter whilst they were in Scotland on holiday.

Cathy presented Bro John Inglis’ (her Grandfather’s) apron and associated Masonic paperwork back to his Mother Lodge. John emigrated to the USA in 1926 after he had served in WW1. Cathy wrote to the lodge asking if she could present these precious mementos back to the lodge whilst when she was here and we were delighted to arrange this presentation.

We will have the apron framed and placed on display in an appropriate place in our lodge and the paperwork, plus his picture in WW1 uniform, will be placed on display in our museum as part of the history of our lodge for future generations.

We were delighted to show her details some of the records of her Grandfather’s Masonic career in CLX. Thanks to our Secretary Bro Rod Henretty who searched our archive and located the information in preparation of Cathy and her family’s visit.

On Monday 23rd June RWM Bro Stuart Richardson of Lodge Roman Eagle CLX presented a cheque for Β£1,300 to Ian Pirrie from the Cancer Card Charity.

The money was raised from the recent β€˜A Night at the Opera’ musical event held as part of Roman Eagle’s 240th anniversary year celebrations.

The money will be used by the Cancer Card Charity to provide β€˜Cancer Comfort Boxes’ to children suffering from this horrible illness. The boxes contain many items, such as a thermometer, comfort blanket, special pyjamas that have openings for medicine lines, etc that will hopefully help the young person a little on their journey to hopeful remission and ultimate cure.

Also pictured is Bro Nilesh Ravel who presented a cheque for a further Β£150 as a donation from Victoria Regalia.
