We're celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary today. The symbol is bronze which is a very good one. Two metals (copper and tin) mixing together to create one which is stronger, more durable and beautiful than the individual parts. Over time, it takes on a rich and characterful patina, getting better with age. Just like our marriage. We're a real team, Simon and I, we couldn't cope without each other and we're still laughing. Long may our lovely marriage last!

Where shall we go for drinks and dinner tonight? So many places are closed on Mondays!! Help needed urgently please. 🍸 🥂 🍸

Louise's Saturday Share - some incredibly beautiful mornings which definitely started days in beautiful ways. Autumn is starting to look so bonny and it's that time of year when some of the prettiest light happens when you're waking up. Yay! I started trying to submit my TVL (TVHell) returns. What a giant car crash that system is. They must have got a raging hospitality hater in to design it. No AI was used to create that system unless the request was "How can we create the most complicated and unclear tourist levy possible, making the owners not the tourists responsible and with as large and painful an admin burden as possible?" Rant over!! Spent some time in Lauriston and Bruntsfield this week getting my Dad's lovely flat ready to go on the market for sale. It's a cracker. 🥰 🍂

Have you discovered just how colourful one of Edinburgh’s most-loved streets is?

Gently curving through the heart of Stockbridge, St Stephen Street is lined with indie shops, vintage finds, restaurants, bars and more.

Originally part of the Georgian New Town’s expansion, the street helped connect the wealthy New Town with the historic village of Stockbridge. Today, it has a character all of its own with a brilliant mix of long-established favourites, exciting independents and a real sense of community and old-world charm.
Novelist Ian Rankin lived at no 77 as a student in the early 1980s. The Antiquary, one of Stockbridge’s best-known pubs, sits inside a former 19th-century bakery and takes its name from Sir Walter Scott’s 1816 novel The Antiquary. Step downstairs and you’ll find a cosy basement bar still serving real ale and wh**ky, often with a side of live folk music.
