Happy 10 year anniversary Ard Na Said ! What a decade it’s been. Seems like just last week our first guests arrived and we had no wifi or payment solutions so took a cash payment in pounds, euros and dollars, and I had to leave my phone out to use as a hotspot.

Of course we wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the approximately 20500 guests we’ve we’ve welcomed over the years, so thank you to all of you !

Very proud of our little Victorian villa offering a home to our guests and hopefully creating memorable experiences while in Edinburgh. To another 10 years 🍾 Slàinte Mhath 🥂

Edinburgh like a local - Whirlybird

A fantastic new addition to the restaurant scene in Edinburgh, very welcoming and cosy once inside, with seating over two levels it feels more like you’re eating in someone’s townhouse in the old town. Delicious food, with choices for everyone and very good service. in a perfect location for winding down after exploring all day or to have a break in the middle of the day !

After a five year restoration project, the Palm house is finally ready to welcome visitors back to admire not only the many different species of palms and ferns, from fen palms and cycads to tree ferns, but also the beauty of the restored Victorian glasshouse itself.

The conservation work included careful repair of glass panels and ironwork and refreshed planting displays, making it a truly wonderful option to go visit come rain or shine while visiting the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

Small changes, big difference! We’ve recently had 4 of our rooms re carpeted, better sound insulation, better heat retention in winter, and overall cosier vibes. We absolutely love tartan carpets and we hope that you love them just as much ! Here’s the before and after for the Baird room and Scott room.

Edinburgh like a local - Hawksmoor

📍23 West register street, EH2 2AA (inside Edinburgh Grand Hotel)

Loved this restaurant for many years ! Always great quality food and drinks and top notch service. However it was my first time branching out and trying something other than steak. I had a grilled monkfish and it was absolutely divine ! We also had a classic Caesar salad, scallops, steak and other great things ! I’ve yet to try their Sunday roast but I’ve heart great things.

The summer months are here ☀️ Edinburgh is filling with energy and excitement with all the fun filled activities from fringe festival, concerts at the castle, the military tattoo, book festival, the film festival, late sun downs and early morning sunrises. You’ll need a place to recharge and rest in some peace and quiet and where better than with us at Ard Na Said ☺️

Welcome to a new series we will be trying out called Edinburgh like a local, where we want to share some of our favourite places that we have tried recently that maybe aren’t in the typical tourist trails or guides.

📍Lucky Yu - 53-55 Broughton Street, EH1 3RJ

This was our first time here after meaning to try for a long time and we were not disappointed. Great variety of vegetarian and meat / fish so there is something for everyone, and everything was absolutely delicious. The team were so helpful at recommending food & drink for us to try and we felt very welcomed from the second we opened the door.
Our top recommendations would be the dirty rice & Miso aubergine but actually everything was good so it was hard to pick a top two. We hope you get to try it out on your next visit to Edinburgh ! Bonne appétit 😄

6 months of work later and the front of the house is looking sharp ! New windows, freshly painted doors, new edges new plants and lights. We absolutely love it and we hope that you will too !
