At 24 Royal Terrace Boutique Hotel we are looking for a new member of staff to join our diverse and talented team.

The role we are recruiting for is a Front of House position, taking on a variety of activities such as reception, food service and basic bar work.

No experience is necessary, we can provide all the training required. Hotel experience would be beneficial. The main attributes we look for in a candidate are good work ethic, attention to detail, people skills, efficiency and enthusiasm.

Benefits include food provided on shift and great coffee! We work hard but always with a sense of fun. Fast progression opportunities as part of a small team.

Did you know coffee is a fruit?

Coffee beans grow on a bush. They are actually the pit of a berry, which makes them a fruit. There are two main varieties of beans, green and red.

Red beans have a nicer smell and are less acidic. Red beans are used to produce lighter coffees. The longer that coffee beans have been roasted – the healthier they are. Decaffeinated coffee comes from a chemical process where the caffeine is taken out of the beans

Edinburgh is known for some noble inventions, they’re also proud to have coined the saying “Sh*t faced”.
Now this is a term that people currently use to refer to someone being blackout drunk. Well, it didn’t always have that meaning, although being drunk was, of course, a factor.

In Old Town Edinburgh, the standing plumbing system involved throwing everything out the window – and I mean EVERYTHING…
Before throwing your waste to the streets below, you’d yell out “Gardy Lou” to warn people below so they would move out of the way.

Unfortunately, when you’re drunk on the way home from the pub, you’re ability to swiftly dodge falling excrement is… sub-par at best. The traditional warning of “Gardy-Lou” rings out and, instead of moving out of the way, you look up to see what you heard right in time to get literally… s**t all over your face… but hey, at least you were warned first!
