This year marks the 175th anniversary of Kilmorie House. During the restoration and refurbishment 9 years ago, we unearthed quite a few artifacts left by previous owners and tradesmen.

We know that the joinery work and finishings were undertaken by Mr Donald Grant, 81 High Street, Elgin. He scribbled his name and date behind one of the skirting boards - 23rd April 1851. As far as we understand, Royal Naval Surgeon, Lewis Carmichael~Urquhart moved in in the summer of 1851, but shortly after, let the property.
The second owner in 1871 (who built the Gig House and added the bay windows to the rear of the property) was Mr Hutton, an industrial chemist from Burghead, who also resided for only a short time before being declared bankrupt with the house and contents being sold at public auction.

Thankfully, today Kilmorie House is proving to be a very comfortable home which welcomes many guests. But, we've retained a few artifacts from previous owners and honour it's history as well as continually looking towards the future.
