🔥Wildfire🔥

So, approx 4.20pm a fire broke out on the south side of the coastal path and the wind pushed it south west. It didn’t cross to the north side of the coastal path and seven fire appliances attended very quickly. 🙏🏻

The caravan park was not affected and the fire service remain on site, and will likely be working all night, dampening down the area.💦

The power lines running through the area have been switched off which is affecting the village and the caravan park. ⚡️

Thank you to the brilliant WB team and the lovely folk who are staying on the park who did everything they could to help us. ❤️

We hope the power comes back for everyone soon. 🙏🏻

🔥 PLEASE HELP US PREVENT A WILDFIRE 🔥

We are absolutely gutted to have found evidence that someone has actually been trying to start a fire by the gorse. 😔

The ground is incredibly dry just now, and the gorse and grass around the beach and surrounding area are tinder dry. A fire could spread unbelievably quickly - what might start as a small fire could become a serious wildfire within seconds.

We are urging everyone visiting the caravan park and the beach to please NOT light fires, have bonfires or use charcoal BBQs. 🚫🔥

🙏 Please tell the youngsters among us too - help us protect our beautiful coastline, wildlife, homes and businesses. One spark is all it could take.

We love sharing this beautiful place with everyone, but please help us keep it safe. 🙏🏻

Just a wee reminder:

⚠️ Temporary Fire Safety Restrictions ⚠️

Due to the current dry weather and the very high risk of wild fires, charcoal BBQs, disposable BBQs, fire pits and all open fires are prohibited anywhere on the park until further notice. This restriction also applies to West Beach above the mean high water springs.

Gas BBQs are still permitted, provided they are:

* Raised at least 300mm off the ground;
* Used safely and responsibly; and
* Never left unattended.

Even a single ember can ignite dry grass, placing people, caravans, homes and the surrounding environment at risk.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping keep West Beach safe.

If you discover a fire, however small, call 999 immediately. Once it is safe to do so, or if you have any concerns, please contact the Warden Team using the intercom at Reception.
