As most of our current static and seasonal residents will already know, we thought we would pop on to let everyone else who follows us here on Facebook with a wee update of our plans/what's going to be happening here onsite at North Alves from 2027 (next season) onwards.
As you will all be more than aware, we have been running our other business (petting farm) alongside the campsite business for 3 years now, and it has gone from strength to strength. It really has grown arms and legs over the past few years. Much, much more than either of us could have imagined. With us now getting closer to the end of this season, we have had some time to stop and think about how we will continue going forward with both businesses. As in terms of the petting farm, we are now at the stage where we have to decide do we expand it further (take on staff etc) or do we take a different route.
Whilst we have absolutely loved doing the petting farm, being able to share our gorgeous animals with an ever increasing customer base in this lovely setting here at North Alves, with it’s success has come lots of hard work, many aching bones/muscles (as we are not getting any younger lol) but has also meant lots of lost time spent with our own family and no downtime for either of us. Especially after the recent loss of one of our parents, it really has brought home to us just how short life is and how much time we have sacrificed not only with our ageing parents but also with our 4 year old granddaughter, our 21 year old daughter (who lives down in Yorkshire and we only manage to see once a year at the minute), our other children (our boys) and also each other really, being able to do things apart from working!
So we have both come to the very difficult decision that North Alves Pet & Play (Petting Farm) will wind down over the next couple of months and come to a natural close at the end of the 2026 season.
We will still be keeping quite a few of our gorgeous animals here onsite for purely our campsite customers to pop and see, as the place just wouldn’t be North Alves without any animals but we will also sadly be saying goodbye to some of the others at the end of the season/over the winter months, as we look to try find them good homes.
We will be going back to being purely a family run/family friendly campsite only! Still purely for statics and seasonal tourers only. (Please note we will not be returning to taking on tourers/tents/campervans etc).
We have plenty of plans for during the closed winter season for you all coming back 2027. This includes upgrading our existing outdoor playpark, pond areas down the bottom will be reinstated and further developed, dog walking area and a few other ideas plus general maintenance around site as well as the creation of our new pitches arrival of our new static caravans.
Food will continue with Lee’s Saturday night takeaways and may also expand to do weekend breakfasts (if there is a call for this)/usual cakes etc in shop during weekends/selected dates during main holiday periods only.
So although we will be sad to see this chapter of North Alves finish, we are excited about getting back to being able to concentrate on being a great wee campsite, whilst also being able to spend time together and with family.
We still currently have a couple of available static pitches in our bottom park, including one of our brand new pitches left available for anyone who may be thinking of a static caravan here onsite with us, ready for you to choose a new static to be sited. We do have a beautiful brand new ABI Coworth Deluxe static arriving but if it's maybe not for you, we are sure we can find you something more suited as we have just done for one of our other current seasonal pitch customers. We may even decide to keep our Coworth Deluxe as a hire van but not too sure at the minute, so watch this space!!!! Excited to see what 2027 will bring!
Thank you as always to you all for your continued support!
Sam & Lee
