A very big thank you to everyone who has stopped us in the street, sent messages and emails congratulating us on being named:

'CAMRA Pub of the Year Northern Ireland 2026'- and for the third year in a row- what a massive award for our tiny village.

Thank you to all the brewers, our staff and all our lovely patrons who love great beer and cider and are adventurous enough to come and try it.. if you didn't come we wouldn't be here.

Cross your fingers that we make it to the final 4 in the UK which will be announced in October..
....Wouldn't that be one for the record books!?

Back today from 5pm - its burger and a pint for £16 and also taking Sunday lunch bookings, some foodies photos for everyone - we also have some cracking beers on too!

After a busy year so far we will all be having a little break in September... for everyones sanity!!!

So just a heads up that we will be closed from Monday 21st September for 2 weeks and will return on Thursday 8th October ready to go and all refreshed for the autumn/ winter season.

Don't worry we will keep reminding everyone over the next few weeks...

Normal service until then! Just get it in the diaries....!

And on to the next project!

So we have been thinking about this for a while but wanted to wait until after the beer festival- let's talk about Cider!
You all know that we have house beers so lets get a house cider.....

We have been out and about visiting today collecting some cask aged speciality cider from @ and also meeting Davy Tempted Irish Craft Cider - there is nothing this man does not know- we have the start of what we think is a great cider as our house cider here at The Dog & Duck Inn- Medium Sweet 5.5% Scrumpy and its called 'Rumpy Pumpy Scrumpy' .

This weekend we are also testing out a new apple juice offering in still and sparkling in cans from the McAlistair family orchards, Armagh.

So let us know what you think this week and why not ask for a pint of 'Rumpy Pumpy'

What a fantastic day at our Outpost Beer & Cider Festival 2026 on Saturday 15th August- you enjoyed it as much as we did- much beer was tasted and enjoyed. We were all thoroughly knackered after that!

Topping the day off was the announcement that we were awarded CAMRA Pub of the Year 2026- a hat trick for us and a great award for our County!! CAMRA

A HUGE thank you to all that made this happen- brewers, patrons, suppliers, John, all our staff and of course mom (on the door as usual) and dad (Head Photographer and Head of buns, tea and moving things).

Until next year! Normal service resumes from Thursday at 5pm.

This year's line-up features producers from across UK and Ireland - Rough Brothers, Inishmacsaint, Verdant, Vault City, DEYA, Arbor, Electric Bear, Boundary, Burning Sky, Kinnegar, Heaney, Daleside, Left Handed Giant and many more, alongside local favourites and festival exclusives.

Expect everything from juicy hazy IPAs and classic cask bitters to rich stouts, crisp lagers, traditional cyders and a few unusual specials.

Powered by scones and truckloads of coffee we are nearly there- about 94%- some new additions arriving this week to finish the front off nicely. Big thanks to Dad- fastest roller in the west- I am not kidding!
Will be looking at bookings tomorrow- apologies if you have made a booking and we haven't got back to you yet- we have been a bit distracted!

Outpost is ramping up- this years custom glass arrived this morning.. what do we think? It has our cute little pub on the front!
