I've seen women insist on cleaning everything in the house before they could sit down to write... and you know it's a funny thing about housecleaning... it never comes to an end. Perfect way to stop a woman. A woman must be careful to not allow over-responsibility (or over-respectabilty) to steal her necessary creative rests, riffs, and raptures. She simply must put her foot down and say no to half of what she believes she should be doing. Art is not meant to be created in stolen moments only.

Just a 50 minute drive away from Harvest Cottage Devon is the beautiful Exmoor National Park

Today marks 65 years of Exmoor as a National Park. That's 65 years of windswept moors, towering sea cliffs and starlit skies. Of babbling streams, enchanted woods, hidden valleys and rolling farmland. Of every glorious season and days spent lost in it all.

Just a 45 min drive from Harvest Cottage Devon is the Stunning Exmoor National Park

At 693 km2, Exmoor is one of the smallest UK National Parks. But what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in beauty and variety.

Wouldn't you agree? 🤗

Our Story

Harvest Cottage sits on the edge of the quiet village of Stoke Canon. Located just north of Exeter, at a midpoint between Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks. Situated with country views yet only 6 miles from Exeter City & Quayside. Formerly a cowshed on the old farm estate, Harvest Cottage was converted in 2001 into the warm homely cottage that it is today. The open plan design downstairs creates a light and open space, whilst the arrangement of furniture provides a cosy feel. The spacious kitchen has everything a kitchen at home would have and is well kitted out. The lounge has ample comfy seating, a gas stove for any chilly evenings and a range of books, games and dvds for staying-in entertainment. The lounge opens up via double doors into the enclosed garden. Upstairs you will find 3 delightful bedrooms: Master bedroom with ensuite, a double bedroom and a twin room (can be made up as a kingsize double) and a separate office room with a desk. There is a travel cot, stair-gates and a fire guard (can be used as a room divider) available for young families and/or those with dogs. Please message us if you have dogs as we charge an additional fee of £15 per dog. Dogs are very welcome but please note they are not to be upstairs or on any of the furniture (sofas etc).

There is wi-fi throughout the cottage.

Garden furniture and a BBQ are available for use.

There are two designated car parking spaces at the cottage, one just outside the rear garden gate, under a carport, and one opposite the carport in the visitor bay.
