Peak: night of Wednesday 12 → Thursday 13 August 2026 — essentially tomorrow night.

Come and camp at our camp site.

* Best time: roughly midnight to dawn, with activity increasing in the early morning.
* Why Exmoor is great: its exceptionally dark skies make it one of the UK’s best places for meteor watching.
* Moon: new moon, so there’ll be essentially no moonlight washing out the meteors.
* Under excellent conditions, the Perseids can produce up to ~150 meteors per hour (the real number you see from one spot will usually be lower).
* You don’t need a telescope—your naked eyes are best. Lie back, give your eyes 20–30 minutes to adjust, and look broadly toward the northeast/Perseus.

Camp under the stars at Exmoor Camping & Cottages at Westermill Farm in the heart of Exmoor

Exmoor National Park is one of the UK’s finest places for stargazing. It became Europe’s first International Dark Sky Reserve in 2011, thanks to its exceptionally low light pollution. On a clear, moonless night you can see thousands of stars and the Milky Way with the naked eye.

Enjoy some of our delicious Exmoor Angus meat.
We have a closed herd of pure bred Aberdeen Angus cattle here at Westermill. All our cattle only eat herb rich pasture in the summer and haylage in the winter.

Today was Jackie Edwards 97th birthday and she made it. But very sadly at 11 o’clock this morning she died, peacefully in her sleep. Surrounded by birthday cards from her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She will be missed by all the family and friends world wide.
