I've just come across the Falkirk events diary compiled by Visit Falkirk and there's certainly plenty to do over the next couple of months!

Mum and I saw Madness at the Helix Park back in June and it's good to see there's several more gigs coming up, as well as a whole lot more.

UPDATE: the Bothy gap has now been filled, and part of the Treehouse gap has also gone. The Treehouse is now available 30th August to 1st September (2 nights), with a separate one-night stay on 3rd September. The Logstack is still available for one night on 31st August.

A couple of unexpected late-summer gaps have opened up due to cancellations.

We have five nights available in the Treehouse, from Sunday 30th August to Friday 4th September, and a two-night stay in the Bothy, from Saturday 29th - Monday 31st August.

We're also trying something a little different and offering a single night between two of our longer bookings. 31st August is currently available in the Logstack, so we've decided to open it up as a one-night stay.

We're in Polmont, in central Scotland, with Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Stirling all within easy reach - perfect for exploring and having somewhere comfortable to come back to.

Wasn't a perfect sky for seeing the eclipse, because it kept dipping in and out of the cloud. Did mean I could mostly look at it without needing any protection, though, due to the cloud shielding it. I had made myself a pin-hole viewing box but barely needed it.

There were some beautifully moody skies, as well.

We headed over to south of Edinburgh to try to get ahead of the cloud bank that was coming in from the NW.

🦔 A little visitor needed our help today...

This afternoon we found this young hedgehog curled up outside the door of our reception.

He hadn't been there earlier in the day, and because hedgehogs are usually only active at night, seeing one out in the middle of the afternoon is usually a sign that something isn't right.

After speaking to Nadia at Forth Hedgehog Hospital, we made him a cosy little nest in a box with some towels and offered him some water and a dish of cat food.

At first he wasn't interested, but just before setting off we tried again by putting a teaspoon of the food in beside him, and although he started out cautious, he was soon tucking in enthusiastically. By the time we left, he was standing up, sniffing the air and exploring his temporary nest, which we're taking as a hopeful sign.

He's now safely in the expert hands of Forth Hedgehog Hospital, who will give him the care he needs.

We love having hedgehogs living in our garden, so we're keeping everything crossed that this little one will soon be well enough to return to the wild.

The High Street isn't the bustling shopping centre it once was, but I think we're lucky to still have so many beautiful old buildings. Also shows how lovely and green the surrounding area is.

Unusual visitors tonight!

When the fire service offered to carry out a safety check, I was expecting one or two people in a car - not a whole team arriving in a fire engine!

I was as excited as a little kid, and the cats were just as curious. Our kitten, Sam, even tried to climb into their bag.

It was lovely to meet them, and reassuring to talk through how things work on site, and make sure we’re set up as safely as possible for our guests, as well as in our home. It's also good to know the fire engine fits up the driveway!

A big thank you to for coming out. We appreciate you taking the time to help us make sure the worst never happens. Much as we enjoyed seeing you tonight, we hope never to *need* a fire engine in our driveway!

We’ve just had some lovely news to brighten our week: Cottages. com have given us their Customer Choice Award 2026, for consistently excellent guest feedback. Since opening, just over 18 months ago, we’ve been so grateful for the positive feedback our guests have shared.

That feedback has also recently led to us becoming Airbnb Superhosts and being invited to join the Booking. com Genius programme.

It means a lot to us, because our whole team work really hard to make this a place where people feel comfortable, relaxed, and well looked-after, and it's great to see that effort recognised.
