🥰We don’t have a “behavior problem” generation.

We have a boundary problem generation.

Somewhere along the way,
we confused gentle parenting with permissive parenting.

Gentle doesn’t mean no consequences.
Gentle doesn’t mean endless negotiating.
Gentle doesn’t mean your child runs the house.

It means calm.

It means consistent.

It means you don’t scream…
but you also don’t budge.

Kids don’t feel safe when there are no limits.

They feel powerful for a minute.
And then anxious.

Because when no one is steering the ship,
they realize they’re the ones holding the wheel.

And that’s too much responsibility for a child.

Yes, teach them emotional intelligence.
Teach them how to name their feelings.
Teach them empathy.

But also teach them this:

No means no.
Respect isn’t optional.
Actions have consequences.
The world does not revolve around you.

Teachers have classrooms to run.
Coaches have teams to lead.
Bosses have businesses to manage.

If your child collapses every time they’re corrected,
that’s not confidence.

That’s fragility.

Our job isn’t to eliminate discomfort.

It’s to teach them how to handle it.

Because resilience isn’t built in comfort.
It’s built in structure.

Be gentle.

But be firm.

Be loving.

But be clear.

Because accountability at home
feels a whole lot better
than humiliation in the real world.

Summer holidays week 4

Monday secret garden Callender Park, weather started up as rain suits n boots then by afternoon we were stripping down with the heat.
Tuesday we had our own private tour of the fire station kiddies got a chance to sit in the fire engine, wear the helmet, and the best bit was a shot of the hose. We spent the afternoon with our friends enjoying water play and crazy soap.
Wednesday, childsmile visited our group with her puppets to talk about how we keep our teeth healthy with a wee play at the park after before lunch.
Thursday we had a tour at RNLI South Queensferry, listened to how we can keep ourselves safe around the water and who to call if we get into trouble, then a picnic at the park to finish our week.

Summer holidays week 3

Start of a new week and the 🌞 is shining, we decided to make the most of its and hit the splash park at the falkirk wheel.
Blair Drummond was Tuesday and even though it 🌧 the entire day, kids had a ball, we played in the park, walked with the dinosaurs and had our own private group chat with the rhinos.
Wednesday was sports day at our childminding group. Chaos but great fun and everyone who attended joined in, 31 kiddies in total 🏆
Finished off the week in dunfermline at pittencrief park learning about white peacocks and seeing the tiny babies, fed some hungry squirrels & went to the public park for picnic play & gruffalo hunting.

Summer holidays week 2

Started the week with a visit to the newly opened park at muiravonside then popped along to see the animals.
Riverside museum Glasgow as forecast wasn't great.
Wednesday our group set out some colouring pictures to coincide with emergency services day, we took a trip up town and had our photos taken with police and inside the fire engine.
Last day we decided to head for an adventure on a train journey with our friends to dunblane, lovely walk along the river, picnic in the park, we managed to find Andy Murrays golden postbox and then finished off with some ice cream before taking the train back home.
