What a glorious day and perfect weather for Day 2 of the Shanty.
We joined the crowds at a packed Falmouth Hotel to watch the brilliant Oggymen - before heading up through town to the Boathouse to enjoy Kessenyan. You could hear singing in every pub, on every street corner - it really is a very special event!

Great first day at the Falmouth Shanty Festival yesterday.
Just a flavour of the atmosphere - looking forward to more of the same today!
And we’ve already got the annual shot of Betty Stoggs!

Another “Owlien” spot - this one resides up at The Moor in Falmouth.
Absolutely loving these anonymous street art installations across Falmouth, Swanpool and Maenporth.
Apparently these charming, handcrafted wooden owl faces which are secretly attached to tree trunks and branches have been created by a local resident to spread joy and "bring a smile to everyone who sees them."
Thank you! They certainly do that!
Keep your eyes peeled this summer to see where you can spot the “Owliens” 🦉

You’ll find Godrevy Beach up on the far eastern edge of St Ives Bay.
Managed by the National Trust, with dramatic, rugged cliffs, excellent surf and it connects directly with Gwithian Beach at low tide to form a massive, three-mile crescent of golden sand.
There’s even a lighthouse just off the coast! And did you know that this iconic landmark served as the inspiration for Virginia Woolf’s famous novel, To the Lighthouse.
I used to come here as a child with my dad for the short walk along the clifftop paths to Mutton Cove, which is home to one of Cornwall's largest colonies of grey seals. Happy memories!

We are now on our second “Guest Review Book” here at Driftwood Cottage - and are grateful to every guest who takes the time to share their thoughts.

We love reading the messages and knowing that people love the cottage, Pendra Loweth and the local area as much as we do!

Somebody asked me recently if I had a favourite photo I had taken for this page - and I still think it’s probably the “cover photo”.
This was taken on a July walk with friends near the Helford Passage - and I still marvel at the colour of that sea!
