Alpoholics are an independent catered chalet company based in Plagne 1800. Like other chalet companies we provide restaurant standard cuisine and a highly personalised service with sought after facilities such as outdoor hot tubs & boot warmers, but what makes us stand out are the extra touches we are able to offer:

Meet Ellis, our new Resort & Chalet Manager for winter 26-27! .

Originally from Sheffield, Ellis has spent the last eight years in London working his way up to head Chef across the revered Soho House portfolio but now the mountains are calling and he wants to head in a more guest and team focused direction ⛷️.

This role has been particularly hard to fill as they’re just aren’t that many people out there who have the range of skills and experience necessary to not only continue to deliver the outstanding experience as we are known for, but to elevate it further still by working with Thom Bateman , the resort team and the UK team as we begin the next phase of our evolution!

“I’m Ellis, 30 years old, I’ve done two ski seasons before but skied all my life on snow and plastic, skier through and through (we all know it’s the coolest).

I’m a head Chef by trade who loves being in the mountains, but don’t we all. Sending it on the slopes more than anywhere else, and generally being hospitable in all facets is what I’m all about. I love analogue photography, you’ll often find me side of the slope shooting something. Whenever the warmer months come I’m always on a bike of some form.

I’m super keen to get stuck in with Alpoholics and look after some fabulous guests and staff this season.”

At Alpoholics, we think of all of those dozens of little things that add up to one great big chasm between us and the rest.

Wake up to barista-style coffee made from ethically sourced, freshly ground Javrybeans, with fresh local bread delivered every morning to accompany your deliciously varied breakfast and our highly trained chalet staff will even whizz you up a morning wellness/recovery shot to prime you for your day on the hill.

When the chalet staff are off you'll be left with a sumptuous option you can heat up yourself as well as the usual continental breakfast.
Ski hire is delivered straight to your chalet ski room. Said ski room will be equipped with ski boot dryers too so all you need to think about is getting out the door and up the mountain.

On catered evenings you'll be presented with stunning canapés before dinner, an exquisite menu created by Chef Thom Bateman and a fully stocked Thornbridge Brewery honesty bar. Our bathroom and cleaning products are sustainable throughout with help from trusted brands such as Faith In Nature and OceanSaver: kind to you, and kind to the mountains.

Every guest gets a USB touch bedside lamp so there's no need to worry about remembering those dreaded plug adaptors and you won't be short on hangers or hair dryers either!

Because the small touches make a big difference.

“Brewing with integrity and without compromise since 2005” - These guys really are the original masters of making incredible craft b**r in the UK and we couldn’t be happier with this collaboration

Nine years ago I was playing Mario Kart in a BrewDog bar in Leeds and put this photo on Facebook.

A former Alpoholics guest who happened to be working at BrewDog commented underneath: “We should talk about you stocking BrewDog in your lovely chalets.”

Twelve weeks later we announced the world’s first BrewDog chalet honesty bars. .

Since then they’ve been in the fridge on every changeover day, in the hands of thousands of chalet guests, and somewhere in the background of nearly every photo on this account. They’ve backed us when we were much smaller than we are now, been ludicrously generous more times than we can count, and given us experiences and memories we’ll be dining out on for years.

But all good things must come to an end, and so we’re doing something different this coming season, which we’ll share properly very soon.

But first: a huge thank you to everyone at BrewDog who made it work so brilliantly; you definitely know who you are and i’ll always be a fan. Cheers 🍻

So you’ve decided on a catered chalet? Good call. But quick heads up, because this one catches people out: “catered” isn’t a standard, it’s a spectrum;

When you spot a catered chalet that seems cheaper than others, something’s been quietly cut. Usually it’s the food and the pedigree of the chalet staff, which is the whole reason you booked catered in the first place. Or the hot tub that’s never tested and never quite clean. Or the “great location” that turns out to be a 20 minute plod to the lift in your ski boots.

We have crafted Alpoholics to get that stuff right:

>— Menus designed by Thom Bateman and cooked by highly experienced people who actually know what they’re doing and can adapt on the fly.
> — Hot tubs that are properly looked after.
