About Freemasonry in Faversham
Would you like to know more about Freemasonry in Faversham?
Freemasons have been active in Faversham for more than 250 years - The Lodge of Harmony No. 133 was consecrated here in 1764.
Freemasonry is a secular fraternal organisation, traditionally open only to men. It promotes the principles of morality and seeks to advance the practice of brotherly love and charitable action amongst all, not just Masons. Contrary to popular conjecture it is not a religion but does require its members to believe in the existence of a ‘Supreme Being’. The name of that Being, the scripture in which it is revealed, and the form in which it is to be worshipped, is entirely the business of the individual Mason.
Political and sectarian religious discussion is forbidden at Masonic gatherings.
