Our Story

Rickla is the family home of Jane & Philip Cook and our three border terriers; Rory, Evie & Molly. The property has been tastefully extended to provide a separate luxury holiday home available for let throughout the year. Situated in the West Mainland of Orkney, Rickla is just minutes from the main attractions of the Heart of Neolithic Orkney UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At Rickla we offer top quality self catering accommodation sleeping up to four guests. This luxury holiday cottage comprises two spacious ground floor suites, each with bedroom, sitting room and en-suite shower/toilet, as well as a comfortable upper floor lounge, fully equipped kitchen and dining area. There are panoramic views across farmland to the Lochs of Harray & Stenness and the hills of the island of Hoy. As a holiday home, Rickla has everything you need as a base for exploring Orkney. The house is set in 3.5 acres of garden, secluded in rolling farmland, teeming with wildlife and birds.

Your discreet hosts are available to provide advice on what to see and do during your stay; perhaps to help making a booking for a local restaurant or plan a ferry journey to one of the outer islands. Your self catering accommodation has its own private parking, entrance, garden and field for exercising your pet.

As visitors to Orkney for over thirty years ourselves, we provide a unique perspective on what to visit, see and do on holiday here. We are also former guests at Rickla and loved the place so much that we bought it. We are delighted to offer these luxury accommodations as your Orcadian retreat.
