Looks like our last guests had a wonderful time and managed two PB’s with a 5lb 14 oz chub and a 12lb 6oz barbel!

“Hi Caroline,

Just wanted to drop you a note to say we had an absolutely fantastic week at Riverside Lodge, can't believe the week has gone as quick as it has.

I think I read somewhere that if anyone had any photos of fish caught you'd like to see them so please see attached a couple of personal bests ! Please feel free to use the photos if you wanted to.

Early in the week I caught 2 chub - the biggest at 5lbs 14 oz... surprisingly these were the only 2 chub I caught all week, despite fishing and baiting the same swim every day.

The first evening I fished (Monday) I lost 2 barbel so decided to change rigs / tactics for the following evening which produced a barbel (at last) hitting the scales at 10lbs. On Wednesday I went all out for barbel, pre-baiting the swim early evening and this resulted in 3 runs and 3 fish, the largest hitting 12 6oz lbs - this is the one of the unhooking mat as Clare had gone to bed so I'd lost my photographer for the evening.

If it's of interest one of the barbel was caught on hair rigged triple sweetcorn and the others were all caught on hair rigged double Robin Red 6mm pellets soaked in Krill.

Just an aside, it was a welcome surprise that you had a tackle shed and bait fridge at Riverside Lodge - I honestly don't recall seeing this mentioned anywhere when we booked or in the welcome literature (apologies if I did miss this) but just to say I have done a lot of angling in Ireland over the years and it's always one of the first questions I ask... any anglers looking at booking Riverside Lodge would welcome knowing this is available as if like my wife, maggots are certainly not allowed in the food fridge !
