Long home to a powerful Asturian family whose crest still faces the entrance to the grounds, Solo Palacio comes into view at the last moment. Perched on the edge of a small hamlet, this collection of wood and stone buildings dates back five centuries. Painstakingly preserved by a visionary team, the ancient manor house reopened as a sensational hotel in mid-2023.
Arriving at Solo Palacio is, in many ways, like stepping back in time. A stilted panera - traditionally used for storing grain - sits between terracotta-tiled buildings, worn flagstones frame fragrant lavender beds, and exposed beams hold bedroom ceilings aloft. Understated spaces feel rustic yet elegant, with soft linens, carved wooden armchairs, big photography books and fireplaces just waiting to be lit.
