Montrose Air Station Museum will be hosting an event to celebrate Armed Forces Day 2026.

As is always the case with our open days this will be free to attend, however any donations we receive will be greatly appreciated.

An unhurried evening in a castle, eating stovies, listening to folk music.

Glamis Castle's Folk Night with Anna Massie is on Saturday 6 June, 7.30pm to 10pm, in the Castle Kitchen Restaurant. It's the kind of evening that doesn't try too hard. Just good food, good music, and walls older than most countries.

About 15 minutes from us. Make a night of it, drive back to your hut afterwards, let the owls take over.

Tossing the caber in the shadow of a castle. Highland Games at Glamis, Sunday 14 June.

If you've never been to a Highland Games, the Strathmore one at Glamis Castle is a proper way to start. Pipe bands, dancers, the lot. Glamis is just 15 minutes from us, so you can wander back to your hut afterwards with the sound of bagpipes still in your head.

Gates open 10am, official opening at noon by the Chieftain.

Adults-only and properly Scottish. A Dram Good Whisky Festival at Arbikie Distillery, Saturday 6 June.

Ten-plus distilleries pouring drams on the Angus coast, masterclasses from the makers themselves, distillery tours, and a tasting glass to take home. Arbikie just won Sustainable Distillery of the Year at the 2026 Icons of Whisky Scotland

Awards, so this isn't just any tasting.

The Angus Show is back at Brechin on Saturday 6 June. If you've never been, it's the proper version of a Scottish agricultural show. Cattle, sheep, vintage tractors, the lot. For the music lovers among you, MoFest is back.

Montrose Music Festival, 29-31 May. Free entry, 20+ venues across town, an outdoor High Street stage on the Saturday, and a new Ceòlas Stage for traditional music this year. Local talent alongside national acts.

If you're with us that weekend, Montrose is about half an hour away. Spend the day there, come home to peace and quiet.
