After 15 and a half years at Cluny Bank, during next week, it will be time for Lloyd and Jules to pass the reigns over to the capable hands of Shanti and Peter Herbert who will be open for business in January 2022.

Lloyd and Jules would like to take this opportunity to thank all our guests for the support given over the years, we have met so many wonderful people and will hold some treasured memories of our time here.
We would also like to thank our suppliers, industry peers and last but not least our valued staff who have all given us so much support.

We are sure that Shanti and Peter will take good care of the business and the beautiful building. They are looking forward to welcoming guests to Cluny Bank in the years to come. We wish them all the best.

If anyone has purchased vouchers since May 2021 or are in possession of in date vouchers that have not been used, please return them to Cluny Bank as soon as possible so that we can issue refunds to those that may not wish to use them in the future!

Here is one of the starters, Vodka and Dill cured Salmon, Avocado Purée and Bloody Mary Sorbet.
We have a couple of busy weeks ahead as we are fully booked!

The nights are drawing in and without a doubt the temperatures are on the cooler side, but as you can see from this photo we do have some stunning autumn days. The leaves are starting to fall, the autumnal colours are starting to show and there are plenty of walks and photographic opportunities in the area. We have been pretty busy over the last couple of months and not had chance to post anything.
We finally got around to refreshing our restaurant menu with some tempting dishes, here we have our own Cold-Smoked Salmon Paupiettes stuffed with Brown Shrimps with an Avocado Gazpacho :)

Well it is Lloyds birthday this week and although it is not a special one it does mark a huge milestone in his life!!
Lloyd left home and school, without any qualifications, at the tender age of 14, it was allowed in those days. He had his heart set on becoming a chef and began his training!
50 years later, I am sure you will agree, Lloyd’s enthusiasm and passion for cooking and the food he produces hasn’t wained in all these years!
He was always confident with his ability as when he went for jobs he used to say ‘ Take me on for a two week trial and if you don’t like what you see you don’t have to pay me’ - He was always taken on!
Lloyd never trained as a dessert chef but when we got our first business over 20 years ago he had to develop the skill and for many guests this is what they think he excels in, although it may well be that they get to see his passion and his humour when he comes out to the tables and tells the guests all about his desserts.
Yes we are only a small business but the hours Lloyd puts in are phenomenal to ensure that everything is done from scratch.
I certainly think that 50 years in the industry is worth a mention and would love to hear what you remember most about Lloyd or what your most memorable dish has been :)

IMPORTANT UPDATE - It is great news that most government restrictions have now been lifted however guest safety is our upmost priority and as a business we feel committed in ensuring a safe environment for our guests and will therefore be maintaining the measures that are already in place until the end of the year. This includes limiting rooms and tables to ensure social distancing.

Henderson is one of our single rooms and as you can see it is quite spacious and has a double bed! The room is located on the corner of the building so has two windows, one looking over the garden and the other towards the woodland of Cluny Hill. The ensuite has a shower over bath. The room also has a corner desk.

Those that have dined with us will know it is not just about a two or three course meal, we serve lots of little extras as well, all included in the price. From the moment you take your seat you are presented with a snack board of homemade flatbread, homemade dip, in this case red onion and garlic humous and as I usually say not homemade olives. Lovely to munch on whilst I get your drinks and you browse our menu!
