Our guests will know that our information folders include 15 local walks, ranging from gentle 1-mile strolls to more challenging 10.5-mile hikes. Weโ€™re now putting together a new โ€œGreat Days Outโ€ collection, and this is one of our favourites.

A visit to The Old Forge in Inverie, Knoydart โ€“ the UKโ€™s most remote mainland pub โ€“ is an adventure in itself. With no road access, you can either tackle the three-day hike from Glenfinnan or, for a more leisurely journey, catch the ferry from Mallaig.

Knoydart is a truly stunning destination, with spectacular scenery, a village shop and post office, a pottery, and a charming tearoom to explore. We also took the walk out to the Brockett Monument, a landmark that must be a very welcome sight for anyone making the trek on foot!

A great day out on Lismore yesterday. A 45 minute drive from here, then a 10 minute foot passenger ferry to the island. Lismore is only 10 miles long by 1 mile wide and is the ideal place for biking round the island with bike hire available next to the ferry. There's 2 15th century castle ruins (the pics are Castle Coeffin), a 2000 year old broch, a post office / stores and a fantastic heritage centre and cafe plus lots of walking trails
