🚶♂️ New scenic ‘High Route’ into Fort William now open on the West Highland Way.
Walkers finishing the world-famous West Highland Way can now enjoy an even more memorable final stretch into , thanks to a newly created ‘High Route’.
Recognised as one of the world’s top long-distance trails, the West Highland Way attracts around 50,000 full-route walkers every year.
Developed by The Highland Council’s Long-Distance Routes team, the new route offers breathtaking views over the head of Loch Linnhe and surrounding hills. Running 50–70 metres above Glen Nevis, it skirts part of Cow Hill before descending near Alma Road, just a short walk from the High Street and official finish point at Gordon Square, Fort William.
Whether you're completing the full journey or just exploring a section, the new High Route offers a spectacular finish to an unforgettable walk. 🌄
