**West district mobile lock and bridge operations**
Our small but dedicated team of lock keepers at the Fort William end of the are currently working as a mobile team covering multiple locks and bridges. Please allow a little extra time for your trip and follow the instructions on local notices if you arrive at a site and the team aren't there. We're sorry, but this means that diesel isn't available at Corpach Sea Lock for now 🙁

Forestry works in Leanachan Forest this summer.

The operations will have a significant effect on access to the wider Leanachan Forest and with a particular impact on the Torlundy /North Face area as highlighted on the map, which is indicative of where felling, thinning works and subsequent haulage will be ongoing. There will be disruption to forest access here with temporary closures and controlled timed access inevitable as operations progress.

Civil Engineering preparation works for this harvesting operation (beginning May22 ‘) will also cause significant disruption to visitors on the forest roads in this area. Again public access will be affected here with further temporary closures and controlled timed access on forest roads inevitable as civil works progress.

We apologise in advance for any inconvenience and will update you with further information on exact timings and specifics as our plans formulate, however, we would ask visitors to the forest over the Summer to follow all safety signage and banks person instructions should they be present within the forest setting.

Braeriach - Britain's third highest mountain. This painting was a commission and entailed a high camp last Winter, just 40m below the summit on a projecting ridge. The tent features but is hard to spot! The Cairngorms is a very special and important mountain area of the UK - vast peaks with hidden corries and wild crags. The other prominent mountains in this painting are Sgurr an Lochain Uaine (aka The Angel's Peak), and to the left Cairn Toul.

The applications are open for the 2022 SSDT!

This application will enter you into the ballot for an entry into the 2022 SSDT which runs from 2nd to 7th May 2022 .
Typically we get around 500 applications but unfortunately only have 280 places in the event. The entries are decided by ballot and the successful applicants informed in December.

Applications Close midnight on Sunday 21st November.
