What a weekend! We were in and out of the haar but had some amazing sunny weather breaking through each afternoon.
Over the weekend we had another fantastic group in who were mid way through a wider Scottish tour. The group spent 3 nights with us and really packed a lot in to their time here.
The wonderful .planet was catering over the weekend and did a phenomenal job of keeping everyone well fed and happy! Highlights included a lamb tagine made with lamb produced right here on the farm as well as cooking freshly foraged chanterelles.
ran a basket weaving course for the guests who all returned with beautiful baskets, perfect for the following days activities..
shared his vast knowledge and lead a morning of foraging, putting those baskets to good use!
The guests also enjoyed a trip to Chanonry Point to see the Moray Firths resident bottlenose Dolphins. The dolphins are particularly active at this time of the year and did not disappoint!

Looking back on last weekends very special celebration as we gathered friends and family together to celebrate my parents golden wedding anniversary! 50 years married, what an incredible achievement.

It was a wonderful weekend of caching up with family, friends, delicious food and dancing. It was a real pleasure hosting such a special event especially as my parents Rhona and Gordon have been such a massive support and very much and integral part of Black Isle Yurts going from a far fetched dream to reality! The very least I could do was help them throw a big party!!!

Big thanks to:
My siblings Kenneth and Catriona for help with party preparations,
for the wonderful cateringplanet for the delicious cakes
for keeping us dancing!

Juniper had had a face lift! Or more accurately a crown lift!

It was time for juniper to get a new roof canvas made as the last one was now 10 years old and showing its age. I decided it was the perfect opportunity to change the pitch of the roof and give juniper a much more light and spacious feel. By swapping the crown out for a much bigger one and changing the roof canvas to a natural white it’s made a huge difference. I hope you love it as much as we do!

Is ‘Bluebell bathing’ a thing?? It should be! Can’t get enough of these beautiful wee flowers. They are all around the farm and amongst the yurt woodland just now. The smell is amazing everywhere!

The piggies have arrived! We didn’t manage to have any last year so it’s great to see them back in the woods. They have a small pen to get used to their surroundings and in a few days they will be let out in to about an acre of woodland to root around in. These guys are Oxford sandy and black x Mangalitza. I think they are going to love life in the woods!
