POV: the school holidays are over… and you’ve escaped to Portland for a couple of days. 🌊

No rushing. No timetable. Just deciding what you fancy doing next.

Start the day with a walk along the coast path, stop somewhere lovely for lunch (with a sea view, naturally), then head back to Our Place in Portland, put your feet up and decide whether you’ve got enough energy left to catch the sunset.

And tomorrow?

Do it all over again. 😂

Are you a summer-by-the-sea person… or do you secretly prefer the coast when it gets a little quieter? 🌊

We love Portland in late September and October. The summer rush has eased, the coast paths are quieter, there’s still plenty to explore and, after a day out in the sea air, you can head back to a cosy cottage and put your feet up.

We have a few lovely gaps available:

🌊 18 – 22 October

Our Place in Portland sleeps up to 6, with three bedrooms, a large bathroom with walk-in rain shower and bath, an enclosed garden and plenty of those little home-from-home touches we hope make a stay feel special.

What brings you to the coast? 🌊

Is it the long walks and sea air? Exploring somewhere new? Days out with the family? Adventures with the dog? 🐾

Or perhaps it’s simply the chance to slow down, switch off and do very little at all.

That’s one of the things we love about Portland. You can spend the day walking the coast path, exploring around Portland Bill, getting down to the beach or discovering another corner of the island… then head back to Our Place in Portland, put your feet up and decide what tomorrow might bring.

Which bedroom are you calling dibs on?

We have a feeling our loft bedroom might have a slightly unfair advantage…

Tucked away at the top of our Victorian cottage, it has exposed Portland stone and brick, plenty of space to escape to, and then there’s that view from the bed.

Wake up, look out across the rooftops of Fortuneswell and see the sea beyond. Not a bad way to start the day!
