This is Gamrie Bay

A quiet place in the northeast of Scotland, shaped by the sea and the weather. You can hear the gulls, smell the salt in the air, and watch the waves for hours. It’s simple, peaceful, and full of natural beauty. Some days the sea is calm, other days it feels wild. That’s what makes Gamrie Bay special. It always feels real and true to itself.

Part 1: Gardenstown – one of those places you don’t really “do”… you just spend time in 🌊

We didn’t have a plan here—and that kind of became the plan. Just slow days, sea air, and the same few places we kept drifting back to.

📍 The Garden Arms – where we ended up more than once… good pints, familiar faces, and that easy kind of atmosphere where no one’s in a rush

📍 Spar – the closest shop to our cottage, our go-to for quick snack runs, drinks, or those “we forgot something again” moments

📍 The Wee Shoppie – another tiny local supermarket, simple, a bit tucked away, and somehow always worth a quick stop

📍 Bumble & Brae Café – the place we went when it got a bit too windy outside… warm, cozy, and hard to leave

📍 The harbor – we kept ending up here without really planning to… just watching the boats and listening to the water

📍 The beach – sand and stones depending on the tide, hardly anyone around, and perfect for long, quiet walks

Nothing about Gardenstown feels staged—and that’s exactly why we liked it so much.

Sunset timelapse in Gardenstown

Watching the sky slowly shift colors never gets old. Soft pastels fade into deep gold and fiery orange as the day comes to an end.

Every evening here feels like a true spectacle, and every sunset has its own kind of magic.

Time seems to slow down, reminding us to pause, breathe, and simply watch.
