This weekend, our brilliant team from The Old Inn and Gairloch Highland Lodge gathered for our end-of-season party to celebrate another fantastic year.

As we close our doors for a well-earned break, we want to send a huge, heartfelt thank you to all our amazing guests, locals, and visitors who stayed, dined, and spent time with us this year. You made it truly special!

TODAY IS THE DAY! 🍂 FINALE NIGHT AT THE OLD INN

The stoves are lit, the pasta is fresh, and Demba’s Signature Chicken Yassa is bubbling away on the stove! 🍲✨

Tonight is our final service of the year before we close our doors for the winter. Join us from 5:00pm for an unforgettable evening of delicious food, great drinks, and wonderful company.

⏳ JUST TWO DAYS TO GO | OUR FINAL NIGHT OF THE SEASON

This Friday 16th October, we turn off the stoves at The Old Inn for the winter, but not before one last, very special evening together! 🍂🕯️

Our kitchen will be serving up Demba’s Signature Chicken Yassa—a slow-cooked West African favourite packed with citrus, mustard, caramelised onions, sweet peppers, and olives.

✨ Eat Good, Do Good: Every plate of Yassa ordered on Friday directly supports the Nio Far project, helping fund essential school, healthcare, and community work in Demba’s home village of Thiaroye-sur-Mer as he prepares for his journey home.

OUR SEASONAL FINALE: FRIDAY 16TH OCTOBER

As the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to fall, our doors will soon close at The Old Inn for another winter. It has been a season filled with warmth, incredible company, and unforgettable moments, and we want to gather one last time to celebrate with you all.

For our final evening service of the year, we are bringing back the dish you loved most: Demba’s Signature Chicken Yassa 🍗🍋

Slow-cooked tender chicken marinated in citrus, mustard, and caramelised onions, brought to life with sweet peppers and olives—a comforting classic straight from Demba’s home village of Thiaroye-sur-Mer.

✨ A Dish with Heart & Purpose
Throughout the season, Demba has poured his passion into sharing his culture with us. Every single order of Chicken Yassa on Friday 16th will directly supports the Nio Far project, helping fund vital schools, healthcare, and community work in his village as he prepares for his annual journey home.

🍝 To round out our final menu, our kitchen will also be serving a selection of our fresh, handmade pasta specials throughout the evening.

As the seasons change and the nights begin to draw in, our evening menu at The Old Inn, Gairloch has changed too. 🍂

We’ve kept some of the favourites, while adding a few dishes that feel just right for the cooler Highland evenings.

Look out for Seared Venison Haunch Steak with truffle-oil infused polenta, Portobello mushroom, cherry tomatoes, kale and demi-glace; our warming Makhani Chicken with wild rice and naan; Venison Lasagne with pomodoro sauce and aged Parmesan; and Freshly Made Pasta with celeriac, chestnut, sage and tenderstem broccoli.

Alongside these you’ll still find plenty of Old Inn favourites, from our own beer-battered haddock and Highland mussels to local butcher’s haggis with neeps & tatties — plus homemade burgers and a selection of desserts.

And when it's dark and cold outside, there are few better places to be than tucked inside a Highland inn, with good food, a drink in hand and the fire glowing nearby. 🔥

Join us at The Old Inn, Gairloch on Sunday 27th September for another one-day-only culinary experience! This month, Demba is serving up a celebrated coastal classic: Firire! 🐟

What is Firire?
It features fresh, whole fish seasoned in a punchy marinade of garlic, mustard, citrus, and a touch of chilli, fried to crisp, golden perfection. Served alongside a sharp, savoury onion sauce, sweet fried plantains, and a crisp, refreshing salad, it’s a vibrant feast packed with incredible flavour.

Food with a Real Purpose
We are now entering the final stretch before Demba travels home to Senegal in November! A portion of every single dish sold goes directly towards the Nio Far project, helping us fund vital supplies and improvements for the school in Demba's home village of Thiaroye-sur-Mer.

🎉 A MASSIVE THANK YOU FROM DEMBA & THE TEAM! 🎉

We are completely blown away by the incredible support our Dimanche Dish events have received over the last few months. Because of your generosity and love for Demba’s cooking, here is where our total stands so far:

• £712.80 raised directly from the 4 x Dimanche Dish meals at The Old Inn 🍽️
• £85.00 given in cash donations 🪙
• £143.00 raised online via our GoFundMe page 💻

✨ GRAND TOTAL SO FAR: £940.80! ✨

That is nearly a third of the way to our £3,000 target for the school in Thiaroye-sur-Mer—a truly amazing milestone!

The Countdown is On... ⏳
Demba is scheduled to travel back home to Senegal this November to start making real, tangible improvements for the school children.

With just two months left before he flies out, we are making a big push to get as close to our £3,000 target as possible. Every single pound raised goes straight into buying vital educational materials, fixing up classroom facilities, and supporting the village's vulnerable youth.
