Charleston Cottage is an exceptionally well presented holiday cottage situated in the small hamlet of Charlestown adjacent to Flowerdale Bay in Gairloch, Wester Ross, in the Scottish Highlands. The cottage was newly presented for 2016 following a full refurbishment to a very high standard. The cottage sleeps up to 6 people with a king size room, a twin or super-king room and a single or twin room.

While the main accommodation is all on one level there is a room above the kitchen providing a den area for children with TV, DVD and Xbox. The cottage is very well equipped and is comfortable in any season with a multi fuel burner as well as gas central heating. The area is renowned for its beauty and attracts many return visitors every year. The cottage is well positioned with a pub and restaurants, shop, boat trips, golf course and bank all in easy walking distance. There is a small jetty in Charlestown making launching of kayaks easy.

Obviously things have moved on dramatically since my last post and Government advice is now clear regarding self catering properties. For now, we are unable to welcome you to this beautiful area. We will keep an eye on any changes to Government guidance and post again when we are back up and running. Lets all keep positive and hope this difficult time will pass quickly and that we can all get back to normal.

Thank you to all our customers past and present for supporting Charleston Cottage. We understand that these are worrying times and that some of you will be thinking hard about whether to travel to the Highlands for the holiday you have booked. Although cleanliness standards at Charleston Cottage are always high we have upped our cleaning between visitors to address concerns for COVID-19 infection. These procedures will provide protection for ourselves as well as for our visitors :-)

Gairloch area finds fame in Sunday Times and BBC Countryfile!

Gairloch has been identified as one of the best places to live in Britain by The Sunday Times! The previous year Ullapool had been included but this year the judges thought Gairloch was due its turn "...For starters, it has even better scenery: rocky coves and wide, sandy beaches offering unmissable sunsets and world-beating views across island-studded seas.......The Old Inn is the liveliest spot in town, but to get the best out of the area, you have to stretch the boundaries a little, following the new North Coast 500 tourist route."

In addition, Inverewe Gardens, approximately 6 miles from Charleston Cottage, has been named as "UK Garden of the Year" in the BBC Countryfile Magazine awards. Beating 5 other finalists to this prestigious award, the sub-tropical NTS garden on the shores of Loch Ewe is now proud to be called best garden, not just in Scotland but in the whole of the UK.
