National Highways: North-East

⚠️Essential work needs to be carried out on the A1 at junction 67 (Coal House) near Gateshead from next week.

⛔❗It means the north western section of the roundabout will be closed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for approximately 3 weeks, starting from late evening on Tuesday 20 September.

👷‍♀️ As part of the next phase of the project, we need to install scaffolding beneath the Kingsway bridge which will then allow engineers to carry out the next phase of hydrodemolition– using high-pressure water to remove concrete at the end of the bridge piers and parapet to enable the bridge to be extended in coming months.

🚗🚙Traffic from the A1 northbound leaving at junction 67 will not be able to turn right for Team Valley or Chowdene Bank and should stay on the A1 to junction 68 before returning on the A1 southbound to junction 67 to turn left on to Team Valley.

🦺Any traffic from Lamesley and Lady Park will also have to use the diversion on the A1 to access Team Valley and Chowdene Bank

➡️Signed diversions will be in place for the duration of the closure and we ask that people allow extra time for their journey. 🕐

ESSENTIAL ROAD WORKS. The coal house round about on the A1 junction 67 is having the bridge made wider for the next two weeks.
One side or the other will be closed completely meaning the round about is only half usable at any one time. The result is chaos at rush hours.
Hopefully my (not to scale) hand drawn maps will help you get to us without attempting the round about. Please use them as a guide and I would suggest having a little Google map session to make this clear too. 😊😊… we hope to see you all soon at park farm.

From park farm to the A1 guests will need to turn right out of the gate. Go up the hill. At the cross roads turn left. This takes you to lamesley. Turn left. Meet the round about at the A1.

To get to us from the A1. Take the exit for lamesley (rather than lady park). At mini roundabout turn right. Follow road. Turn right down banesley lane at cross roads. We are then on the left after .75 of mile.
