Girvan has been voted as the UK's most popular dog friendly town 🐾🐩🦮😀 We have been welcoming guests and their furry friends to Woodland Bay Hotel since 2009. It's simply ideal with the lovely beach and town nearby.

WE WON!!! 🥳

We are over the moon to tell you that Girvan has been voted the most dog friendly town in the UK at this year's DogFriendly Awards

The winner of each category was announced at the awards ceremony in London this afternoon and we still can't believe Girvan received the most public votes out of 122 UK towns and cities that entered

A huge thank you to all the businesses, organisations, attractions and individuals that have worked with us and supported us to make furry visitors feel welcome in Girvan - this is an award the whole town can be proud of as it has been a community effort 🐕

A massive thank you to everyone who voted for Girvan, we really appreciate it and it has made all the hard work worthwhile

Although we only launched our dog friendly initiative in May, lots has happened since then, culminating in this fantastic accolade

The Girvan Classic is just over two weeks away and is our last golf event of the season.

Spaces are filling fast, so make sure you have your entry in and be part of this great competition at Girvan Golf Course.

3 rounds played over 3 days, this strokeplay event is an aggregate competition, playing for the Carrick Quaich (SCR), Ailsa Shield (Div 1) and The Maggie Milligan Trophy (Div 2). Daily prizes and special hole prizes each day are included in the £40 entry fee.

GET YOURSELF TO GIRVAN... this weekend for the Carrick Lowland Gathering - a great day out for the whole family 🌞🥁😎

The final countdown is on to the 40th Carrick Lowland Gathering which takes place this Sunday, 4th June, in Victory Park, Girvan

Entry is free and the forecast is for sunshine (honestly!)

To help plan your day, here is the programme of events -

10am - Highland Dancing Competition
11am - Funfair opens
12pm - Solo Piping Competition
12.45pm - Official opening by the Chieftan and Civic Dignitaries Crowning
1pm - Heavy Weights Competition and Walking Football
1.30pm - Pipe Band Competition
2pm - Saughhill Race
4.30pm - Pipe Band march past and presentation of prizes

The Funfair is open from 11am - 4pm, £10 all-day unlimited wristbands can be purchased on the day, or in advance from The Paper Shop and The Sweetie Shop in Girvan

Vouchers valid for 1 ride/inflatable can be purchased on the day for £3
