It’s the end of an era! After the best part of two decades living at beautiful Loch Lomond, and more than half that time welcoming you folks to stay with us here, we’re moving on to new adventures. And the Shepherd’s House is for sale! So if you loved your stay with us so much you fancy living here full time, this could be your chance. Houses here don’t come to market very often … link to the estate agent is in the comments. 😉

With the 2021 season behind us, we have been reflecting on what the future holds for the Shepherd’s House B&B. It’s safe to say we will not be taking any bookings for any future dates; family life has moved on and it is no longer possible for us to commit to be here to manage a busy guest diary. We do plan to keep the vacancies sign next to the window though, and if there are occasional evenings we are able to offer a room we will put the sign out. This does mean it is not a good idea for you to plan to stay here on your travels, however if you happen to be in the area you are most welcome to see whether the vacancies sign is up.

Coronavirus update, posted 21 January 2021:

We remain closed until Saturday 1 May 2021 at the earliest
Our booking system will not open before 29 April 2021
Mainland Scotland is in lockdown with no relaxation expected until at least mid-February. Even when restrictions ease, the additional rules affecting accommodation providers mean it will not be possible for us to re-open for the foreseeable future, because we are also a family home and we are not able to guarantee social distancing for our guests.

**Big News**
Happy New Year! It’s been a long time since our wee B&B has been able to host any guests due to the pandemic. Instead, you can enjoy a taste of the Shepherd’s Hut tomorrow night on the BBC Scotland channel!

We feature on episode 1 of “Iain Robertson Rambles” as Iain Robertson, of River City fame, walks the West Highland Way. Iain stayed with us in our shepherd’s hut during his trek and loved our breakfast! 🍳🥓

Tune in tomorrow at 8:30pm! 😃🖥

Hello everyone 🙂 a month has passed and we are looking again at what Bed and Breakfast at the Shepherd’s House could look like under the present Covid-19 restrictions. We even went away on a West of Scotland holiday of our own, and looked closely at what other service providers are doing. Sadly we have concluded that it is just not possible for us to do it to a standard we would be happy with, until there is a very significant loosening of restrictions. We will therefore be remaining closed for the rest of the 2020 season. This isn’t the news we wanted as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our opening, but it’s just how things are in 2020. We are, as we have always been, a family home first and foremost. Keeping our family and our guests safe is important to us. When we’re confident we can do that, we will reopen. As things stand, we hope to start taking bookings in January 2021 for stays in the 2021 season. If that changes we will let you all know.

We have taken the difficult decision to remain closed until at least the end of August. The Shepherd’s House is first and foremost a family home and children and a key worker live here. The ongoing burden of ensuring social distancing and daily disinfecting means we can’t adequately ensure the safety of our family or our guests during the current phase of restrictions.
