So as you may have guessed it wasn't to be at the Publican Awards on Wednesday night in London. Huge congratulations to all the category winners on the night, including Molly Mcs who pipped us at the post for Best New Build Site.

A cracking night out was had by the whole team and there were more than a few fuzzy heads the next day. TBH, we were all so chuffed just to be a part of it, being able to represent the little independent pubs on the big stage.

A huge thank you to our owner, Bruce Ashmore, for taking a leap of faith and investing the time and money into bringing the Mitre into the 21st century, ultimately creating a pub that is truly the jewel in Glastonbury's crown. Thank you also to all of our staff and suppliers, past and present who have helped to grow our fledgling bar and restaurant into the go-to venue in town. We couldn't have done it without you and each and everyone of you should give yourself a hearty pat on the back.

And finally, a huge thank you to all our epic customers. Without your amazing support, we wouldn't be here doing what we do. Here's to a fantastic summer and beyond ............. 😍

So excited to share that we’re finalists in the Publican Awards 2026!

Shortlisted in the final 6 for the Best New Site across the UK, our team are dusting off dinner jackets and gowns ready for the big black tie do in London this Wednesday.

Fiercely flying the flag for the little independents out there, The Mitre Inn is the only representative in this category from the South West & faces huge competition from stunning venues in London, Manchester and Brighton & Hove. That said, you’ve got to be in it to win it and we’re in the final six so anything is possible…..

Following a site visit and Q&A session with several judges, the The Morning Advertiser had this to say about our hidden gem in the heart of Glastonbury. See the link below for the full article.

“This failing former pub has not just been revitalised but magnificently transformed. Bruce & his team have rebuilt from the ground up, spending a significant sum of money to create a pub that is now the jewel in the crown of Glastonbury.

“An impressive emphasis on local suppliers helps to support the pubs aim to be a zero-waste kitchen, with chefs only buying what is available and building the menu from there. A strong steak offer from a local farm is supported with an impressive range of sides, all grown by local small local growers, and not a single ingredient is wasted, with the kitchen even performing its own nose to tail butchery.”

HELP NEEDED!

We're after a bit of help from local historians/those who knew the Mitre Inn of old.

We received a lovely letter from a lady who was evacuated to Glastonbury as a child during the war. She had a coupon (early bit of marketing) for the Mitre, stating it had open air lodgings and stables and we're keen to know more about the history of the site.

Do you have any old pictures or tales to tell about the of old? We'd love to hear them 😊
