Further snow recorded over Scotland last night..!!

I tend to agree with Lady Bird Johnson who once said

"When I no longer thrill to the first snow of the season, I'll know I'm growing old"!

So.. is it time to put away the BBQ ? Time to hibernate the firepit?
Clearly the homefires will continue to burn... offering such atmosphere... warmth and that special stovetop meal!

We are happy to leave the outside delights available for all our visitors... and would love to publish a good going night time fire pit photo, warming our guests and melting the snow around the pit, forming a perfect circle of green grass.....

Now there's a challenge !

However, do you, like me, sometimes wonder if the painter has used ‘some artistic licence' to enhance a scene... and one would never come across an actual view, quite so spectacular?

DAY 12. JURASSIC BARK!! From 4 years ago today.

Hello!

Delighted to report that we managed to find the dinosaur footprints at Staffin today. Spot was rather unimpressed, but the humans were very excited.

We had a very wet walk around the 'Staffin circuit' whilst there. But packed lunch had to be eaten in the car rather than atop the hill today.

HOPING FOR A HOT CHOCOLATE

Hello

We had a stroll up the Glen behind the Chocolate Shop today, sadly the chocolate shop was too busy for us to call in afterwards, it has been really busy every time we've passed since we arrived!
Dinner at the Inn and more competition at the pool table. The bar staff are involved and it is turning into quite the tournament!
I think it might be a late night tonight

BEACHES AND MUD

Hi

We were very lucky to find some dry weather today, its been murky and yucky more or less everywhere... other than at the Point of Sleat! Lots of mud but no other people, so Spot had his choice of 'private' beaches to pick from. These little beaches rival the famous white sands at Morar, though a lot more effort is needed to get to them!

A good day for Spot on his birthday. We returned on the ferry, which is counting down to the end of the season. Just a few days left to go!

A final treat of rump steak for Spot's tea. No photo, it didn't last long enough. He's happily snoozing now, I think he's enjoyed himself ❤️🎂🐾

Many times he has shared with us his high adventures when staying in Glenelg…

And now Famous Spot is known by such platforms as Google… who quoted the following when asked ‘who is Spot the Munro Wagger? !! ‘

“Spot the Munro Wagger" refers to a well-known adventurous dog who accompanies their owners in Munro-bagging (climbing Scottish mountains over 3,000 feet).

Ohh… we’ve had a good day today

A lovely, dry walk in sunshine into Glen Arnisdale, surrounded by roaring stags ( Ray will add a repeating clip of the roaring in the first comments below ) and atmosphere and an afternoon of live folk music and chat at the Inn. What could possibly be better? (May be the aurora, keeping everything crossed)

RAIN & RAINBOWS

Hi

A day of sideways rain and intermittent short bursts of sunshine today. We've been out for our usual walkies route around the grazings and back via the road, and then over the hill and around to the war memorial and back and thats about it! Have had to change clothes each time and poor Spot has had his towel dressing gown on a lot today!

Tomorrow is a good forecast so we are heading out early to make the most of it. Sadly tonight the cloud cover is such that we are also missing the aurora that the rest of the UK seems to be seeing. I've been plodding about in the dark and the rain trying in vain to see a clear patch of sky with no luck at all. Hopefully we'll catch it another time 🤞🏼

PS whilst our custodians were shooting rainbows from the garden… ( the two photos on the right ) a friend kindly shared with us her own shooting of that very same rainbow… taken near to the monument….looking toward that wee red roofed cottage….possibly at the very same time… !! CRAZY WEATHER!

Hello

Today really has been four seasons at breakneck speed. Luckily we were at sea level and not in the hills. A jaunt to the beach and a very bright rainbow at the shore station, and dinner in the Inn. Our rest day was mainly spent dodging torrential rain showers...

A VERY LONG DAY….

Hello.

We've had a very long day. It started off very well with bright sunshine on the Mam (only 4 degrees though!) and we headed up the hill towards the Saddle. A fabulous view for lunch. And then the cloud came rolling in, bringing cold rain and wind.

Along another ridge and we eventually had to come off the hill via a different route, as we happened upon a lot of deer and angry stags charging about. (Yikes). So a boggy and soggy detour, which was very tiring. Including carrying the dog across a river, as he'd finally had enough of us, the deer and the mud and completely refused to wade.

We've done 11 miles today, but they weren't easy miles! Planning a more relaxed one tomorrow..
