We are delighted to announce that Professor Nigel Peake has been elected as the next Master of Darwin College. Nigel will succeed the current Master, Dr Mike Rands, on 1st October this year.

A Professor of Applied Mathematics, and Professorial Fellow at Emmanuel College, Cambridge Nigel is currently Head of the School of the Physical Sciences.

He previously led the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics & Its Applications. His research interests explore wave motion, particularly as applied to acoustics and aerodynamics.

“I feel hugely honoured and immensely excited to have been elected as the next Master of Darwin," Nigel said.

"The College is a remarkable and very special place, and I am so looking forward to working with the whole community of Fellows, staff, students and alumni over the coming years."

Our Story

Located just three miles from the Summit of Helvellyn recently voted The UKs favorite climb on the shores of Lake Ullswater in the UNESCO world heritage lake district national park. A Georgian lakeshore villa set in what must be one of the most spectacular locations in England. This sublime Georgian Regency villa built for Rev Askew is remeniscent of an Italian lakes villa, after a seven year restoration it is available for exclusive low key lakeshore weddings, aniversaries, a Boutique Bed and Breakfast. Available from Summer 2012. Charles Darwin and his family chose Glenridding House to stay for a five week vacation in June-July 1881.
